Is this door bugged? The upper portion is blacked out, no light can go through it and it's weirdly out of place when placed. Can someone tag a dev and ask of its intended. Thanks

What an odd choice! I started decorating Sword Singer's Redoubt in the Redguard style as much as possible two months ago, and paused, waiting for this weekend when the Luxury Vendor has new Redguard stuff. This door is extremely tall. I don't know where it could fit, without cutting through a roof or terrace. I tried it with many structures.

I would have preferred it to be two items: the tall door frame, which can be very useful as a wall, and the door itself, since there still are not enough door types as furnishings. If you use it as a wall, you can still interact with the wall like it's a door, but obviously, nothing happens since the door is buried in the ground.

Also, like someone else said, you would expect to have some kind of transparent or 3D pattern, but as it is right now, it's flat, and the door is missing sound.

I am playing this game with passion (and paying sub), for 10 years. I am not sure this time I will wait an other year to see what Redguard item might be recycled with this vendor. I can live without it, but am sorry that my favorite game doesn't evolve. The devs keep saying the game evolves, but keep repeating the same proven pattern each year with a different name. The release of furnishings is way too slow compared with the pace the devs are releasing huge houses, usually crowns only.

From my point of view, as a housing enthusiast, there is no visible direction with housing. The luxury vendor was a good gold sink in the early years of housing. There is no change to this vendor since the beginning, just a new item a week is really confusing. Like why? The community is so active and passionate, they surely deserve more than a new bugged item this week. I am seeing all the goodies, like the scribing altar and so on, but now I am talking about housing and furnishings.

I can't understand why ZOS isn't giving the tools for the community to create generic assets, even houses, while keeping the rights and the decision of what goes in the game and when. There so many talented people who create incredible assets for Skyblivion or Skywind, even better than the original ones.

I asked myself exactly the same. The door is so tall there aren't a lot of places where it can be used as a door and the blacked out parts look really weird.
Before I realised that those aren't actually holes I had a few ideas how to use the upper part with the actual door in the floor, but not like it is now. I think It should either be a completely closed design or you should be able to actually look through the holes.

I hope this black background is a bug, because in its current form, this (actually pretty cool) door is really useless. And I agree, it would be better if it were two parts—while the upper part can still be sunk into the ground, the door below is useless for low structures. In fact, there are very few options where this part fits. It "sort of" fits if you stack a Fargrave Colonnade Hall and a Redguard Colonnade, but even then, you have to sunk the Fargrave Colonnade into the ground.

As far as I can tell, all luxury items are recycled assets used somewhere in the game. Which is not surprising since no way ZOS would be willing to waste resources on making unique pieces for housig enthusiasts. Maybe once every other year as an event reward, or maybe if they can sell it for 50 bucks in the Clown Store. But beyond that, only recycled assets for housing.

Now having said that, I can't recall any place where this door shows up. And I do tend to have pretty decent memory for these things, especially if the theme (Redguards, i.e. Middle Eastern flavour) interests me.

I thought it might be from Fargrave since that place has really tall doors for some reason, but didn't spot it there when I ran through it earlier today. I also checked several of the more rarely entered large Redguard buildings and scouted around Abah's Landing, but I can't seem to locate this door anywhere.

Maybe it's used in a dungeon somewhere. One of the Thieves Guild quests perhaps. Been ages since I did those. All the other items for this week's slot are from Abah's Landing, so a Thieves guild connection would make sense.

As for the door itself. While the shape is kinda stupid and awkward, it does look cool though. I can also find a couple of uses for it. Especially if the carvings on the top aren't see-through. I can use them as doors in a couple of places( the tall bit just clips into the void outside the house), as a fake door suggesting interior in a tower, and as a door in one place and a wall on the floor above it. But it is definitely not a universally useful piece. Even so, ended up buying 6, though placement will have to wait till winter. No sub at the moment, so slots are locked in my actual houses and can only store furnishings in warehouses. No point to sub right now, what with the chronic EU logon issues, plus will be doing some travelling during the next couple of months and can' really play anyway.

As for the 1 piece per week stupidity. I used to be pretty vocal about that years and years ago to no avail. ZOS refused to budge on this issue and drip feeds stuff on a moronic pace. Well... It's their loss, since these days I just wait until enough crud has accumulated for me to actually do something with housing and only sub for a couple of months each year. Many a time I've had a great idea and felt the itch to do some housing stuff, only to realise that I have to wait like 8 months for the pieces I want to be available and then shrug and go fix my building itch by modding Skyrim.

I guess as long as people buy clown crates, overpriced cosmetics and laser ponies, everything is just fine and dandy in the land of ESO.

They've talked in the past about how furnishing assets are not simply recycled from the game, they need to have work to them. That said, it would be unusual to see something done purely for the luxury furnisher.

Maybe it appears in the new Hew's Bane dungeon (which I haven't played)? Or perhaps content coming later in the year.

Would have loved this thing without the black where holes should be.

I like that we got a new structural material, and I Iove the Redguard aesthetic, but I'm also unsure how it can incorporated in existing houses/furniture. Like another commenter, I thought of Dawnlight Palace too, but I don't have it to check. I wish the pattern wasn't flat and that it had openings instead, it's a very intricate design, so it would be nice if it was more like grating.
