Scribing System Golden Pursuits NOT Backfilling

Aside from this, did anyone else at ZOS say "backfilled" or is the forum hallucinating?

Yeah, I'm trying to work that one out myself. I don't recall ZOS ever promising to prorate GP objectives. They've never done it in any of the past GP's.

I suspect that (as is often the case) someone misinterpreted a comment made by some from ZOS. Or perhaps even someone from ZOS misspoke, removed or edited said statement. But either way, too late as players will latch onto every statement hear as a promise and quote it as gospel.

Irrelevant. The "quests" should be backfilled. At least one of them is 100% impossible to do if it was already done (picking up the quest from the crown store will not complete even on a character who has never touched scribing and was able to pick the quest up).

But this is what happens when there are barely enough people working on ESO to keep it running.

The difference is poor design, which will not get fixed, and bug, which might get fixed.

Your statement would carry more weight if those quests that aren't completed retroactively actually prevented anyone from completing the GP.

I already had Scribing since I obtained it with Gold Road, however, as another user above me said, claiming the Scribing quest within the crown store WORKS if you DO THE QUEST. I did it on TWO ALTS who DID NOT have Scribing, and it worked fine, completed two pursuits and counted as completing quests. The claim Scribing from the Crown Store worked for me AFTER I completed the quest, and the Scribe One Skill completed with that.

If this worked for you, there is a major bug going on, as it is not working for everyone, even after completing the quest (not just reading the book). It completes the “Second Era of Scribing” task and advances the “complete quests” task but does NOT fulfill the “Claim Scribing from the Crown Store” task if you already owned Gold Road before U46.

It should not be working for some people and not for others in the same situation. Something is wrong here.
Also, which source of Inks are suppose to count? I've collected a few and am still sitting at zero credit.

There are 3 Inks you get from opening each of the 3 “Enciphered” script satchels that come on the reward track (top line). These 9 inks count towards the 10 required.

The discrete Ink that is rewarded on its own for the Golden Pursuit (like the 20x) does not count. You will probably have to find 1 in the wild. This is in line with how Ink bought off guild stores does not progress the Ink Accumulator achievements. It has to be gotten from a container or node.

To find 1 in the wild, you can find it from a variety of sources: killing enemies (~0.5% drop rate), resource nodes (~1% rate), heavy sacks (currently my rate is 10% in about 300 sacks), and treasure chests (no data on drop rates, but you can get 1, 2, or 3 at a time, like in heavy sacks). Some coffers also give ink, but I can only think of event coffers at the moment, and there isn’t an event up right now.

Backpacks and urns can drop Ink, as they drop potion solvents. I haven’t seen any Ink yet from Giant Clams, despite them dropping poison solvents.

Note that you need to complete the respective Wing quest once on your account to be able to get these Ink drops. Indrik unlocks enemies, Netch resource nodes, Gryphon heavy sacks, and Dragon treasure chests.

Poor implementation, poor communication - the never ending problem with any event, pursuit or activity. And the deafening silence upon any questioning.
Maythor: honestly we're getting the supermarket treatment here ... shrinkflation with the addition of simply moving things about so they seem fresher .. all the while being told a corporation is our friend :P

"PLAY YOUR WAY" my Aunt Suzy's ashcan.

If it comes with strings, it ain't free. It isn't a gift with purchase; you were overcharged. Companies don't love you; they love money.

I_CraftwithPntButter: 2023 is the year your supposed to be doing better , remember ? (Still waiting for that in 2025)

Advice for the future : com·mu·ni·ca·tion (noun)the imparting or exchanging of information or news.

KlauthWarthog: Well, they can definitely measure fun on their spreadsheets, otherwise they would not be able to nerf it so consistently.

    Good morning ZOS_JessicaFolsom, ZOS_Kevin

So some of the Golden Pursuits required are:

    2d097um467ym.png

I cannot get these due to already having every achievement:

    7z8get6atdhf.png

Yesterday one of the DEVs mentioned things would be backfilled but... They are not and now that post is gone. Is this going to be corrected or are those of us who already have these achievements out of luck?

    Thank you!
Wait, I assume this was just doing the scribing quests on an alt like any quest requirements? I did the entire quest chain on one but my other alts just unlocked scribing, you use the doors and then repair the altar.
So the wing quests is doable on alts, now this does not help if linked to achievement not quest completion.
I just did the wing of the indrik quest now and it was credited for it, +1 endavor even trough I have everything related to scribing, now this require that you have an alt who has not done these quests.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    "Player discoverable"

Personally, these Scribing "Door quests" are so boring to do that so long as there are lesser alternatives, and almost all of them will be, is it really a problem?

They should have reworked the luminary door quests for the "free scribing release" to cut them back to the initial door unlock task. Once the door is unlocked, just talking to the animal should unlock the luminary. Eliminate the rest of the quest. The second part is just a fancy daily endeavors thing, and should be easy to justify removal. There is no skill or thinking involved. It is just mindless running around.

On EU, I have a character who just completed the Scribing Quest "Wing of the Indrik" (already completed on my main on that account a year or so ago) - and it doesn't count towards the Golden Pursuits.

So I presume that completing the specific Wing quests on an alt doesn't count.

OK. It did complete after I talked to the Chronicler and Nahlia.. sighs

I suppose that alts can get the wing questlines and complete them.

For those of you that received Scribing via the chapter, you can still obtain the Golden Pursuit for claiming it from the Crown Store.

On a character that HAS NOT done scribing yet, go into the Crown Store and find the Second Era of Scribing quest starter and "purchase" it.

    0vjs866rdv9q.png

This will place an item into your Quest Items inventory. You need to go to Inventory > Quest Items (the Triangle Symbol) and find the one that reads "On Behalf of the Mages Guild." Double-click it. This will give you the Golden Pursuit.

Not for me. Checked and it's grayed out and unpurchaseable. I got scribing via the DLC. I guess I'm just screwed.

I think the purpose is to get those who only now got Scribing with the update to try out scribing.

But it is possible to get all rewards even if you have done scribing with all the characters. There's 19 other pursuits, 18 if you have all grimoires on all characters.

I had done until indrik with all characters, so obtaining scribing from crown store, second era of scribing and indrik wing are not possible for me. In the end I did netch with one character but even that was unnecessary.

I could easily get the required 16 without scribing. Only 25 resources harvested, so harvesting 25 more and I would not need the netch. And I still have the 5 and 10 daily login rewards coming up later.

So getting the max reward is possible even if you have done all scribing quests with all characters.

    Some notes:
    - Getting class skill kills comes just by playing the game
    - For scribing kills, I used soul burst, went to Greenshade and looked for wasp nests. Collect all the wasps and spam the soul burst skill. Weak enemies and plenty of them.
    - For scribing heals, I created a healing banner, found an overland enemy (a couple of shalks will work just fine) and left my character there while I went to make some sandwiches. After those sandwiches I had both 250k and 400k healing pursuits. This really is an afk pursuit.

If a dev confirmed that these should be backfilled, are there any updates on that? It's sad this system keeps using tasks impossible for some of the players.

I've just started playing on PC and cant even pick up the quest because I'm not yet level 50. There's a few i can do without it but not enough. And doesn't look like I'll be able to both get to 50 and complete all the requirements because I'm in the EU and can't even log in
