What's been fun for you with subclassing?

I gotta say that subclassing for me has been kind of a dud. Now I haven't gotten a chance to really do anything fun since my primary goal was to update all of my healers for endgame content (healer main), so take my feedback with a grain of salt, but subclassing really hasn't been all that exciting.

I have started my pet-master build, which is kind of exciting trying to theorycraft what abilities and skill lines will yield the best results, but it is so much grind to try to get subclass skill lines leveled up that it kinda takes away the fun IMO (especially since on my healers, I've had to get carried through content to level up since I have no offensive abilities).

I also have some fun ideas to make a fire/lightning mage, but again, it is so much grind to get subclasses leveled up that by the time you get to the point where you can really start making armor for your build and perfecting it, you just want to go and do something else.

My suggestion would be to have an event that gives double XP, and in the boxes, give away lots of 1/2 hour or 1 hour 150% XP scrolls to help with this. I'm pretty patient and I tend to burn out less quickly than other players, so if I'm feeling it over the grind to level up subclasses, I KNOW it is an issue for other players out there as well.

In sum, for me, the excitement over subclassing has been more about the "possibilities" rather than the actual results.

I was convinced that they would offer insta-level upgrades in the Crown store. I came out of retirement to try subclassing, and re-quit because of the grind. Like I said on my post about it a few months ago, if they'd have offered those upgrades, I would have spent a stupid amount of money on it to save the hassle. I'm just not doing it.

They should have just made it so if you had alt characters with those skill trees leveled up, you could just swap them in and out right away and be able to use them. I think it makes sense to level the skill line if, say, you never had a DK and wanted to use DK class skill lines, but it seems like its just more grind work than necessary to have to level up skill lines that you've already leveled up previously on a different character. It is already grind enough IMO having to hunt down the skysharts necessary to be able to actually USE the skill lines.

It's definitely a long process. Do we have to level it up again on a new character?

You only have to level each subclass skill line once, and then it can be used by your entire account.

PVP damage being high again. It has genuinely been years since we've had a meta like this in PVP where the majority of players can be killed, and it's been extremely refreshing to play.

Really hope they choose to buff the weaker lines up to par rather than nerfing the stronger ones.

I previously mentioned I created an Elementalist with Ardent Flames, Storm Calling, and Winter’s Embrace with a Sorcerer base class and I’m having fun with that. I think for my second foray I’m going to modify my Warden (mentally viewed as a Druid) by swapping out Winter’s Embrace either with my fully leveled Ardent Flame line or do something different and try Molten Earth or Stormcalling. Any suggestions about which one may be the best for a Druid?

this build using Assassination and Aedric Spear is fun. i chose those lines because they both use weapons.

here's a build using all the beams Radiant Oppression, Fatecarver, and Soul Strike.

those 2 builds could be used on any class, but i also made a Necromancer exclusive build inspired by Ghost Rider from Marvel Comics. it swaps Living Death with Ardent Flame.

I am having an incredible amount of fun exploring the new subclassing system. I finally can make a Warlock now. Just to experiment with different classes, I finally can create my own lore for my characters (which I always wanted but was limited).

The reason I also came back to play ESO again is subclassing.

I had alot of fun doing random normals and 8v8 BGS with my main character leveling skill lines which I hadn't really done in a long time. Also exploring Solstace in the process.

I have some ideas for a few characters buy so far have only put the necro scythe skill( I just like the skill) on my NB still need to decide on a weapon and convert him back to a Stamina based character.

Have one more NB line to finish on my sorc who is my primary alt then all the skill lines will be maxed for toying around with.

My main character is a nightblade but I've never used NB skills to fight, I don't like them, I prefer using both the bow and dual wielding with daggers (what can I say, I'm a Bosmer).

I got rid of the NB Assassination skill line to use the Animal Companions from the warden class instead, now my huntress has a mighty bear and I can send enemies a swarm of wasps before I ruin their day with my bow and daggers. I love it.

I’ve been enjoying experimenting with different skills, sets, and mythics to get my two-bar Elementalist at least as powerful as my Oakensoul pet Sorcerer. I’m not there yet, but I keep getting a bit closer. Right now I’m trying out Monomyth Reforged.

    Literally nothing...

I despise playing DD based on channelled abilities and other options that I tried seems bleak in comparison.

On a healer it's better, but with all the needed lines levelled I am pretty much choosing characters to play based on whim and aesthetics. Not fun at all.

Coming back to this after a few weeks of experimentation.

    Damage Roles:
Most of DD my builds follow this format:
    1. Main damage line: Aedric Spear or Herald of the Tome
    2. Assassination for passives.
    3. Flavor line from other classes. Animal companions, Storm Calling, and Ardent Flame have been my favorites so far.

    Healing Roles:
    1. Warden 's Green Balance and Templar's Restoring Light has been really fun. My two favorite healing lines together, what more could I ask for?
    2. Curative Runeforms and Storm Calling. Critical Surge + Healing beams = Green Numbers for Days.
    3. Siphoning and Living Death for healing goth vibes.

Overall, Templar and Arcanist are now my two favorite classes.

I've not had time to play on a multi class character yet because too much going on irl, but I have managed to level quite a few skill lines maxed with master writs and a 150 xp scroll. I plan to "gitgud" maybe for the first time ever. 😁

For me it isn't eso. It's another game. 2 out of 3 at my house have barely touched it and I have played much less. I think eso has lost part of it's identity and not for the better.

I think they could of invested more time into making scribing a more robust system. Where it could of been like subclassing but not just a straight up lazy swap and mix. What's the point of double skill point cost hahaha. They could of added things to antiques, dungeons, pvp, bg, trials and limited class defining mutations. But no, here we are.

I thoguht that was the whole point of scribing as well. It should've been expanded upon instead of how they did subclassing.

I think there is enough threads and place on these forums to express dissatisfaction or unwillingness to use subclassing, and there's no real need to bring that here and spoil the mood of people enjoying subclassing. Let's just keep things friendly or at least civil between ourselves !

On my main account I fully levelled subclassing day one. On this account I mainly play meta builds in trials. In general, I've always played optimal builds in games. Not because I'm a "meta-chaser" but because I play games by the rules and like to do well. This isn't RP for me.

On my mule account, I started levelling subclassing in my spare time by playing the game. Things like endeavors and random dungeons.

It's been super fun because the builds are all over the place because I want skills from the skill lines I am levelling on the front bar.

This results in a lot of shortcomings I then correct with scribing. I think this is why ZOS made the decision to add scribing to the base game.

As a gamer -- as opposed to a power fantasy/rp player -- it's a gratifying and extremely fun process. I think this is *the* way to level scribing if someone isn't motivated by end game activities.
