I just got notified by Norton that ESO64.exe has been infected by IDP.generic and was blocked. So I looked around on the internet to find a fix but none. So I let it have the EXCEPTION and then I seen that the launcher was running the game but the game was not. What I mean is, you look at the launcher and it will state PLAY or RUNNING but in this case it stated the game was running but it was not.

"What I mean is, you look at the launcher and it will state PLAY or RUNNING but in this case it stated the game was running but it was not."
That can happen sometimes when game crashes, but never closes properly.Sometimes other games with launchers give same issues.I just made shortcut directly to eso64.exe,and only use the launcher only for updates.

I'm sure the infection is a false positive,Norton is bad about that if it sees certain code.If you use something like enb or reshade,or a similar injector, then that could be the cause.

You can upload to virusscan.jotti.org to test other AVs.It showed nothing on mine. It's how I test things if they get flagged.

If you ever have a program crash, it's a good idea to reboot your computer to close out any lingering processes or clear any unreleased memory.

And even if you never have a program crash, it's a good idea to reboot your computer once in a while.

This stellar Captain Obvious advice is brought to you by a guy who likes to keep his computer on 24/7/52. /dunce
