Copying a char appearance

I just made a new char, I like the appearance but accidentally made the wrong class. I understand I can't change class, is there a way to copy the appearance to another new char?

Currently, the best way to do it is to take screenshots of the sliders and then remake them that way.

You'll need to own an appearance change token (or race change, but that's more expensive) to be able to get back into the sliders. You just use it, take the character in, then screenshot all of the sliders, and then back out. It doesn't consume the token, so you can use that to save all of your character sliders - that's why I always have one around.

When you remake the character, just match the sliders. I find it easiest to put the game in windowed and then resize it to match the picture so I can put them next to each other, but if you have a second monitor you can do it that way. Another trick I use is to screenshot the sliders after I remake it and then check the new slider screenshots against the old ones to make sure I have everything - that's the best trick for the triangle slider since that's really tough to get perfect just by eye.

I use OnTopReplica, it lets me overlay a screenshot of the sliders so I can perfectly match them up instead of eyeballing.

Post 2, that's a great idea, thanks. If I delete the char, can I re-use the name? Thanks to post also, but I don't know what that is.

Been wishing this game had an appearance preset export/import function since launch. :|

Yes. As soon as you delete the character, the name is freed back up. I don’t know if the name is held for a time before another account can scoop it though; I never tested that.

However, one fun trick is that you can build the character in the creation screen with the proper sliders, and then back out. ESO will save those sliders as long as you’re still on the select screen, so you can make your character perfect, then back out and delete the first, then go to recreate the character and they’re already set up for you. It means the name is only “unused” for less than a minute.
(I usually put on the slider locks, but I don’t think that really does anything)

Yes. And there is no cool-down on the name; you can use it again right after you delete the character whose name it is.

I had another idea - if the warden swaps out all three sub-class skill sets for Sorcerer, is he the same as a sorcerer?

You can't. Subclassing means that you must have at least 1 skill line from your base class and not more than 1 skill line from each of the other classes.

So on a base Warden, you can do Sorcerer - Dragonknight - Warden, but you can't do Sorcerer - Sorcerer - Warden, much less Sorcerer - Sorcerer - Sorcerer.

Thinking about it a bit more, I'm thinking the theme of 'lightning sorcerer' is really one skill tree. So, maybe the warden can work as one getting that one sorcerer tree, but then have to figure out what two others are good to match.
