Your ideal Game End of Life Adventure Content?

Everything ends eventually, even ESO one day. So the shower thought for today is, if/when we get our final year of an Adventure Zone/Quest Update, what would your ideal story be?

I've personally thought of ways ESO could wrap it's entire self up into a Bow and fit as much into Canon as possible. The best I could come up with, is essentially Back To The Futuring this.
Valsirenn, the new (post Summerset) Ritemaster of the Psijic Order requests our attention on Artaeum, filled with resolve and melancholy. She informs us that ever since the Planemeld the Order had seen instability in Time. Ripples and distortions that have only grown more tumultuous as events continue to happen. At first they had dismissed them as byproducts of the multitude of shenanigans the Vestige has had to combat over the years, however with more focus Valsirenn has discovered they are symptoms of a much larger wound, and the Vestige is right in the middle of it all. Ever since Mannimarco betrayed Emperor Aquilarios and doused the Dragonfires, every event that's happened since was never supposed to happen, and only the Vestige's interference in stopping or "fixing" these disasters have only been band aids on a much deeper injury that is now growing to fester.

We've all been calling it, a Dragon Break.

Valsirenn has concluded everything immediately following the dousing of the Dragonfires was not supposed to happen, the timeline we're in is torn and unstable, and the only way to make sure the fabric of the Mundus returns to stability is to use Chronomancy to return to the past, and stop Mannimarco from ever succeeding in betraying the Companions. The Vestige must stop the Dragon Break from happening. If we are to accomplish this, then Nirn will continue along the true path of time, making all of the events of ESO having never happened. It would even mean the Vestige as we are at the end, would cease to be. Without having been captured by the Worm Cult, being sacrificed to Molag Bal, the Vestige would remain just another Mortal of Tamriel, living their life.

tl;dr, We use Time Travel to go back to just before the Planemeld and defeat Mannimarco before he can betray Varen, keeping the Dragon Break from ever happening.

A timeline splitoff would be a pretty feelbad ending, and pretty overused and cheap imo. The series is better if a lot of the new areas and lore introduced in the game didn't have an asterisk after them when it comes to the rest of the series and future games.

The last piece of content could wrap up the Alliance War, not necessarily ending it, but showing how it might advance after the timeline of the game, or how it seems impossible to stop.

The problem is the Vestige is kind of too significant, an unkillable ungodly powerful being, where are they during the Oblivion Crisis or the Dragon Crisis, they could have turned Mehrunes Dagon inside out without Martin Septim Sacrificing himself leading to the end of the Septim Empire and rise of the Thalmor.

End of the alliance war. All three of them create a royal counsel who intend to become equal advisors to a Septim Emperor, who must answer to them. We learn Jorunn has full faith in this idea. Ayrenn, Emeric, and the Tribunal (especially Sotha Sil) do not. And they all have something that could qualify as the spark of an idea that leads to future games and their politics.

For example, Aryenn planning to protect the independence of her Thalmor and her insisting she still believes things would have run better under eleven rule with her as leader but that she's only being peaceful because too many of her people have been killed. Also make it clear she feels she has a responsibility to her allies and citizens to not waste their lives needlessly just to suit her own ego of sitting on the throne, even if she does think she'd have made a superior ruler.

You can see how something like that could turn into later games without putting her directly responsible for later Aldmeri Dominion groups which are the same in name only and thousand years removed.

Also explain why the Vestige is forgotten later. Mora's influence? Ithelia? Molag Bal? Royal counsel mandate so the Vestige can finally live peacefully? What happens? Because something needs to happen to the Vestige to make everyone forget.

would there ever be an option to have a 'frozen' version of ESO that could run for a few years longer if most of the game is retired ?

I guess some real crazy time shenanigans would be fun, like going back and saving Varen (maybe even after the Dragon Break, so whatever we do may not impact the world too much). Or maybe be pushed forward and see the dawn of a certain Talos Stormcrown... I'd love to meet his battle mage, Zurin Arctus. If this game ended (and I hope it will take years to get there) I'd love something really crazy and weird.

Isn't pretty much everything overused and cheap these days? Original ideas are rare to come by in story telling.

You login to the game, your character in a much younger form is just waking up in a bed with a Blue, Red, or Yellow blanket...a voice in the background calls out "Wakeup (Insert your name here)" its time to go to school... yes, the dream has ended... fade to black.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

Or you wake up with your spouse from a previous Elder Scrolls game.

I second an ''end of the alliance war'' story. Really I'd just love an excuse for a cleaned-up huge city-hub instance of the Imperial City; Market District for guild traders and crafting, lots of residential space for NPC houses with no locked doors and a player house in the Elven Gardens/Talos Plaza/Arboretum, skill respecs and more residential stuff in the Temple District, Arena District becomes an official zone for dueling with leaderboards, so on and so on.

There could still be a seperate instance of the invaded city for PVP.

I agree. Time travel and alternate universes are heavily overused. I thought the end of the war did not fit lore wise.

Not sure what I would want. I guess my character would get to retire someplace nice.

I take it you have never heard of Ultima Online or Everquest, not a single truly successful MMO has died from old age yet.

I personally would prefer that the game evolves into a new form, rather than actually ending. Just as the middle ages evolved into the industrial age in RL, work evolution into the ESO system, slowly but constantly make small changes to the buildings in towns, expand the cities, make new things constantly appear, and old things disappear or change. Make the whole game slowly morph into something different. Just as the best armor from 10 years ago is laughable now, evolve the whole environment on a constant basis.
I ALWAYS believe I know the answer. Turns out I rarely understand the question.

Player since BETA (February 2014) and have the monkey to prove it. Level 50 in all classes and have mastered all normal skill lines. Still working on mastering all subclassed skill lines.
