Scribing System Golden Pursuits NOT Backfilling

Good morning ZOS_JessicaFolsom, ZOS_Kevin

So some of the Golden Pursuits required are:

I cannot get these due to already having every achievement:

Yesterday one of the DEVs mentioned things would be backfilled but... They are not and now that post is gone. Is this going to be corrected or are those of us who already have these achievements out of luck?

Thank you!

    Thank you for your post.

Without the golden pursuit quests you highlighted I can't complete the golden this time around. It's that simple.

This seems to have not been very well thought out to me.

Don't forget "Claim Scribing from the Crown Store", which also cannot be completed if you have Scribing by owning the Chapter.

So tired of these pursuits that some of us literally *can't* do. And generally those of us who've played and supported the game for a while.

But then if they added like "kill 1 trial boss using a scribed skill", there would be outrage because people "can't" do it. Lol.

All I ask is for a variety of tasks that are interesting / appropriate for a variety of players.

I thought this was a bug. I had never done scribing before and it didn't update when I claimed the quest from the store and completed it for the very first time. I did buy the chapter so I suppose that answers the why. Hopefully they fix it.

It's always been like that, like the rare jubile weapons had to farm for 10 days at extremely low rates and next year they dropped like candies and you could buy them for event tickets.

My complaint though is that the pursuits regularly include tasks that some players are completely locked out of because they already bought something or did a quest or leveled up a character or what-have-you. I offer no opinion on the issue of rare items being made easier to obtain over time.

Feels a bit like those who paid for the chapter are being penalised, we should at least be given the 'claim Scribing from the crown store' one. Can we even get the achievements on another character or are they account wide? Even if we can, I don't think I could be bothered doing the whole thing over again.

Also I've collected 20 Luminous Ink and it did not count for the 'collect 10' pursuit.

The GP is easily completed even without those tasks. There are 6 possible out of 26 that can blocked from completion. But you only need 16 of the remaining 20. And yes they can be completed. In under a few hours (first hand knowledge).

I agree with DenverRalphy. I got 11/16 done on an account that already had scribing without any difficulty, and I'll finish the rest with the daily login rewards and a few guild quests tomorrow.

    This isn't a big deal.
Trample your way around a public dungeon for the damage one, and stand in some lava with a scribed healing skill (ulfsild's works great) and those complete fast.

Yes, it's a very easy pursuit to complete. My feedback to zos remains, however, that it is not a good feeling to look at a pursuit and find that you're ineligible for many of the activities because you've been playing the game, and I would like to see them try to avoid this more going forward; and/or add a few additional tasks that a veteran player might actually enjoy.

Hence why they provide additional tasks to ensure there will always be a way for any player, new or veteran, to complete it.

For those of you that received Scribing via the chapter, you can still obtain the Golden Pursuit for claiming it from the Crown Store.

On a character that HAS NOT done scribing yet, go into the Crown Store and find the Second Era of Scribing quest starter and "purchase" it.

    0vjs866rdv9q.png

This will place an item into your Quest Items inventory. You need to go to Inventory > Quest Items (the Triangle Symbol) and find the one that reads "On Behalf of the Mages Guild." Double-click it. This will give you the Golden Pursuit.

The GP choices are supposed to offer just that: choice, so players don't have to do the ones that don't appeal to them. If there are always a few that are impossible to complete for some players, that defeats the purpose for those players. In this case, 6/26 is almost 25% of the choices eliminated off the bat, which is a lot.

If it's a bug and they're supposed to be filled for those who have already completed them, then hopefully they'll fix it pronto.

I'm worried about the fact that some rewards are directly linked to some objectives. What happen if i complete all 16 pursuits and accidentally leave out one connected to a reward?

Will i forever be locked out from obtaining it?

You can still complete those tasks and claim the attached rewards even after claiming the capstone reward.

Thank you. Do you know if there’s a workaround for those who have done Scribing on all of our characters and for whom making a new character would require sacrificing one with full mount training, full research, and many scripts already?

I am very curious about this dev comment that said this would be retroactively credited and what is happening with that in terms of intention and execution. Retroactive credit has been an issue with previous pursuits, like the “Complete 1 Weekly Endeavor” we were told would be credited but which was not.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom Would you happen to know what the current state of things is with retroactive credit for this pursuit and those going forward? TYIA

Tried claiming scribing on a few alts, got the letter, opened it, and nothing happens. The pursuit remains unchecked.
Never mind, I'll just have to be patient and wait to claim the daily login rewards.

It has to be on a character that has not done scribing and has not accepted any of the scribing quests in any other fashion.

I have some holder characters that I could try that with, as long as it does not award some sort of an achievement to that character, does it?

I created a character for the occasion, took the quest in Crown Store and didn't get credit.

I think if you keep complaining about not being able to complete "locked" pursuits you are just going to get a shorter list in the future, not more options.

As long as it's possible to complete the pursuit without having to do potentially locked items, ZOS has done their diligence imo.

It's possible without but locked options are annoying and not well thought out.

Tried claiming scribing with a brand new character, a few lvl 3 alts who have literally only teleported from the starting area to mournhold.
They havnt even used a skill or swung a weapon.
I still cant get the claim scribing ticked off. It's there and not greyed out and I do get the notification of the mages letter. I read it and then nothing.
It's not an issue, just weird it's working for some people but not others.

The above did not work for me. Instead, on a character that had never done scribing, I started the quest from the Crown Store and then followed it. After scribing my first skill (1 Golden Pursuit) I was able to finish the Scribing quest (1 Golden Pursuit), for a total of 2 possible pursuits.

(This also counted as 1 quest for the Complete Quests pursuits, and one Grimoire from the 3 Grimoires pursuit)

that's not the point. for one, it's not possible for ppl to complete those pursuits as it is. but the main thing here is, zos said that they would be completed for ppl who already did them. they would get credit for what they already did. and they are not. this is not the first time something like this has happened either.
