So, now that we have floating mounts... My request to add boats that you can swim in is no longer relevant... But I still want it! Give me the opportunity to be a sailor! I want my own boat! Let's have an item that can be activated through quick access. Similar to siege weapons.

You can summon a boat and board it (and two other players, for example). If you move 10 meters away from the boat, it will disappear and return to your inventory. You can only summon one boat at a time. Just... Please!

I'd like that. Even if we don't get our own boat (although that would be ideal) I'd like to see moving boats in the game world, including ones players can ride on.

    Hm. Okay. Yes.

I need this. Even if they're slow and the travel range is as limited as our swim range, I could see myself sailing up and down the coast whenever I need to get anywhere. Oh, and maybe they could add collision boxes so you could sail along the coast from, say, Greenshade to Malabal Tor, for example.

would be fun RP potential. In another MMO that shall not be named, we got surf boards to hit the water with, we could get a raft, and yes, even a two man boat <3 it was glorious.

You actually come across boats SO often in this game, and they are always really well placed too. Pretty much every time there's a body of water that takes a bit to cross, there will be a boat somewhere. Whenever I come across them I think what a shame it is that we can't actually use them, it feels like they've almost been made for it.

Once we have swimming mounts I guess we'll be another step closer to potentially getting this. Depends on how they handle the logic. If the mount moving in water will be flagged differently (and it should since it needs different animations), that should allow for a separation of a water based vehicle and land based vehicle. After that all you need is some sort of logic that doesn't allow water based vehicles on land (the opposite of the dismount we currently have pretty much). And then if we're talking about letting a player "carry" a boat in their inventory, the placement or summoning needs to be taken care of. As another comment said, similar to siege weapons makes sense, that already determines which area is allowed, and how collision is handled.

    One can dream...

If we do get boats we can take out and about they would also need to add Leviathans out where the Slaughter Fish are. Something to capsize the boat if you get to far out so the fishies get their snack.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I'd love a boat mount that you can fish from or something

I didn't know that we had floating mounts, but I've always wondered why it was impossible to go from NW Malabal Tor (around Velyn Harbor I think) to Gold Coast (which is so right in front that you can see Anvil Castle from Valenwood during sunny days) by swimming.
Apart from slaughterfigh, that is, and they're not even lore-friendly, it's just a mechanical tool to prevent such voyages.

I'm pretty sure that there are more swimming/sailing connection possibilities between some pairs of provinces (Iliac Bay ? the sea between Bleakrock and Balfoyen/Stonefalls ?).

I know that the creation of such sea routes would render some navigators NPCs useless, but to be honest, I start to think that there are way too many navigators : in Wayrest, for example, the last one added to the docks and sailing to Solstice has been placed RIGHT IN FRONT of two NPCs that were perfect for pickpocket sessions and that now are completely impossible to target cause, y'know, there's a navigator watching right there.

And as a personal lover to sailing to the point that I've worked on a sailing boat back when I was young and that I played ONE Assassin's Creed game only because of sailing and piracy (Black Flag), I'd love to travel on ship around Tamriel. Like for real, not on a loading screen.

The navigators are already an optional extra. I love that the option exists, but I suspect most players use wayshrines and teleporting to group members to get where they're going most of the time.

But even if we could sail there ourselves the navigators would still be useful. Like fast travel in the single-player games, the benefit of using them is not having to navigate to the destination yourself. It saves you time, and sometimes you might not know exactly where the location is, you just know the name.

This can be done. The maneuverability should be like that of siege weapons, so that the ship turns slowly, and a little rocking, because it is a ship, and we are at sea. When colliding with an obstacle or a wall, the ship's health will decrease and it will push off, or even be destroyed.

Well, if it comes to that, it would be great to make waves near the seas, because the sea should have waves. Without waves, the sea is unrealistic, it stands motionless like plastic.

Absolutely, I wouldn't want sailing at the expense of navigators. That said, I wish the navigators' destinations made a little more sense from an in-universe perspective. My main use for them is for RP travel, and the travel routes get kind of screwy sometimes.

One of the first things I did with a new character, when I used to create new characters, was to use these navigators to have a least one wayshrine in each province, then I would use it to explore the rest. I always find funny to read players asking for taxis in the public chat, while ingame travel solutions exist ^^
