Zenithar & Veneance: When Events Conflict

Hi,

What we seem to keep running into is timeframes when events or features are released on conflciting schedules, and it tends to draw players into a bit of stress or frustration when we have too many things going on in a given month. Of late, things have escalated further to now where we have two events going on at the same time, and one is actively blocking part of one of the key features of the other event.

One of the draws of the Zennithar Event is that AP and Golden Vendor Items are discounted. However, During Vengeance Campaign those AP and Golden Vendors are disabled and turned off. So no one can now take advantage of them as both are scheduled to end at the same time on the same day. This is frustrating, and not the first time ZOS has done overlapping activities, but in this case we can't use part of the benefit of the one because of the other. Its Rather frustrating, and i am concerned that this will continue to happen. It was also not disclosed on the Zenithar announcement that Cyrodill vendors would be restricted during part of the event.

Let me know if i am wrong about being concerned, or if i am just over reacting, i know the discount isn't all that much, but to people that dont pvp often or at all, we dont exactly get a discount on AP items all that often.

@ZOS_Kevin could you provide this feedback along? possible solutions would be to maybe make some of these AP vendors outside of Cyrodil during conflciting events, work on not having such conflicts, or even make sure to communicate that conflicts with other events could occur.

thanks.

Agreed. Would be nice if we could get the discount extended or something. The game barely communicates schedules or any other information. It's hard to keep every single thing in mind, especially when you first need to manually look through every single announcement.

I just posted in another thread that I was planning to spend my AP there but didn’t realize I should have done that before Vengeance started. I’m a PvP player and was going to take advantage of the sale.

This is a fine example of "left hand not knowing what the right one does". Yet another failure of the studio's management.

In the test server i wanted to check for new collectables in Cyrodiil and wondered how to acquire them but the same Vengeance thing prevented me doing it.
Maybe when Vengeance is active, all these gear selling vendors should be put outside of Cyrodiil.

Here cause same thing. Incredibly annoyed zenithar and vengeance is running parallel and we can’t get discount in cyro.

@ZOS_Kevin thoughts? I can’t find any official post addressing this.

Given that it's a test and that the schedules seem to already be quite intensive to plan out because they impact development cycles and future events, a rare overlap is understandably inconvenient but not not necessarily avoidable. Zenithar's is definitely reducing the player count for the Vengeance test, which they'll have to factor in.

It would be great if the event and test didn't overlap, but there just might be times when they can't delay either. It's clearly not something that they would want to do if it could be avoided.

Not having an AP discount for most of Zenithar's is not ideal, but it's not a huge disaster if this was unavoidable for the scheduling for reasons we don't know about.

If they had the foresight, they could have let us know in the description for the event that the Golden would not be available for the Vengeance test and then I would have done that business first. I did not participate in the first test because I am on console so I did not remember that was the case last time. It seems to have just been an oversight.

There's nothing unavoidable here. If the schedules are as "set in stone" as they say, "intensive" or whatever else, then they clearly knew about them in advance. Then why wasn't this (vendors being unavailable) clearly described in the event announcement? Why are the players not warned of these "set in stone" things? Why is nothing done in advance to deal with the very specific issue of the vendors being unavailable? Why are they not moved elsewhere? Why is a different NPC not set up for the duration with access to those vendor's inventories?

There's a million solutions to this and not a single one of them was attempted. That's not an unavoidable scheduling issue. This is just an "oversight nobody is bothered to correct" issue.

If the schedules were set, then what we have is an issue with communication. Communication internally and externally. Why wasn't it declared in Zenithar announcement that the ap vendors would only be available for one week? Why was the Golden vendor specifically called out as available during the event?

Why wasn't Zenithar event pushed up a week?

If schedules were set in stone with clear internal communications the overlap should have been obvious and adjustments made.

What it really implies is there was no set schedule, or no coordination between teams, an no communication to the players.

As to the discount being a non issue. I disagree, see my original post. We never get discounts outside of this event. And for those of.us that dont pvp or rarely do those discounts are huge.

I dont think events and releases coinciding is necessarily bad, but I do think that the golden vendor not being present during this event is an oversight that could -easily- be hotfixed. Not sure why there's been no mention or acknowledgement of the problem here by the team.

That's really the problem. The merchants are technically present. You just can't interact with them due to the Vengeance restrictions. Which means they are there, but not there.

The hot fix would be to end vengeance, but they can't do that because it requires server downtime.

Which makes the issue more glaring than normal event overlaps.

Another fix would be to just turn the discount on after Vengeance ends. After the event. Keep it on for a few days. The only message we got from Kevin was that the suggestion will be passed on to add the discount to the next event (which supposedly is also too hard due to scheduling somehow... which makes no sense but whatever). This is arbitrary. These restrictions to events are unnecessary. ZoS messed up and basically deactivated our discount for this event, without proper communication. If they can't move vendors around, or extend the event, or do anything else along those lines - just activate the discount after the event. It's that easy.

Also won't happen. Why? Also because of scheduling? Because we can't have anything nice unless there's an event to go with it? Hard to put it in next event? What about the event after that? Or the event after that event? At some point scheduling really can't be an excuse any longer. Will we get any communication on WHEN exactly we'll get the discount to compensate for this missing discount? Or is it expected that we'll just slowly forget and move on, while ZoS does nothing to address it. Because that's the feeling I get.

What's WILD to me is that they closed every Cyrodiil campaign BUT vengeance - during an event. That's is just not the way.

This screams bad oversight to have all vendors disabled in Cyrodiil during the only event that discounts said vendors. And the fact that this was not properly communicated with players before the vendors became disabled is telling. I agree that this definitely needs to be fixed in some way by ZOS.

No, burying this under the rug is not an option.

We have a PvP event coming up at the end of the month. Why not make the 10% AP discount then?
