Stackable surveys exactly like master writs? no thank you.

There's only ONE QOL change I would ask for (yeah, I know, I don't have to collect them) and that would be to move the really inconvenient ones. Looking specifically at Shadowfen jewellery and Grahtwood enchanting. I have a pile of the latter in my bank, which I will probably end up destroying.

It would be great if surveys could be collected from any zone we choose instead of each survey dictating where we must go. This would save a lot of time because we could stay in one zone to do all our surveys instead of porting all over the game.

Well I prefer being bored by opening containers rather than have to face the constant annoying inventory management.
Afterall, there are currently 193 unique surveys (U46).

I didn't even see that there was a live stream on July 1st, watched and see that this is actually coming. This will be great, I went from writs taking up 2-3+ of my house storage to part of one. I usually end up with one+ filled with surveys too, or store them on a mule until I get a bunch or feel like running them or have put a dent in my mat supply.

Though I think I am more excited for the mounts being able to swim and not constantly dismount you in puddles. Though this does kind of take away from Argonians racial passive.

IIRC, back when Orsinium was introduced, we had all survey reports pointing at the most recent map we had DLC for (which was only Orsinium anyway). Then, some time later, we had different reports at different locations. I don't know what ZOS expected to accomplish with this change other than a bit of immersion, but the long term problem with tons of unstackable maps became terrible.

I wish it could get back to how it used to be. Except that, with stacked maps instead, the game would multiply what every node yields by the amount of corresponding reports in inventory, applying the Plentiful Harvest CP individually for every iteration for each node harvested — instead of only once at the end.

Any relief of interim inventory pressure is welcome. I don't think this change does much for dedicated crafters that already have ~200 bank space set aside for surveys, but it helps everyone else quite a lot in just dealing with 6 stacks so they can fill their banks with other things they care about like gear sets or furnishings.

Personally, this moves my needle on doing crafting dailies from slightly negative to slightly positive. I don't have that much bank space available, so I'm left clearing them out when I get about 50 of them as mostly singles. Saving up stacks of them will greatly improve efficiency for me.

Big question for next week is whether these stacks are tradable like the unknown writs. People from my Twitch chat hoped they might be.

I'd be really surprised if they're tradable given that surveys are bound.

Can I ask how you'd deal will actuallt collecting from the stacked surveys? Say you have a stack of 100, would you just open 10 and zone hop? Would it not be frustrating knowing there's likely duplicates in that stack that would make it easier, but would destroy your bag space to find them?

Wait until a critical amount is stacked in any particular profession, and then open all of that profession and harvest.

Tradeable surveys would be great. If you enjoy doing them so much, I'd be happy to give them to you. If not, just give me a survey assistant.

There are no duplicates while stacked, because they're all just containers. The contents will be decided when you open each individual one, much like with the current unknown writs. So in your example, within the 90 unknown surveys would by some %chance of two in the same zone, but that's not necessarily what you'd get if you then opened them all.

There aren't 90 zones so yeah, there's going to be duplicates. If you just open 10 to do at any one time there probably won't be; if you opened the whole 100 there has to be so you'd save a significant amount of time over opening them bit by bit.

I guess everyone will decide for themselves whether their time or storage space is more important!

I have to agree, it would be nice if, for example, when we get a cloth survey we could just go to ANY cloth node in any zone and use that survey. The same with all the other harvesting nodes. So instead of 100 differnt unique zone specific cloth surveys we could just receive one called “cloth survey” that could be stackable. It seems like this would reduce strain on the game. They used to have a whole bunch different sizes of soul gems divided by level ranges until they decided to combine them all together and have a universal soul gem. They could do that for each type of harvesting node.
