Keep it as is, but add the ability to choose either the item or 1 crown gem (or whatever equivalent of Seals of Endeavor would be)

well not really because u dont need garbage that you throw away - it need replacment with items that actually players would find usefull all the time and be able to use not something they do not need anymroe after maxing

Well, even 1 crown gem is more valuable that the stuff you instantly delete...

It only takes like 16 gems to get lower tier crate cosmetics. If you had the option to get 10 every day, prices would definitely be adjusted.
GW2 had an almost perfect login reward system, a list of rewards that progressed based on your actual logins rather than the date. if you took a prolonged break after getting the "day 15" reward, you got the "day 16" reward when you came back a year later.

Of course it was a bit repetitive and full of stuff vets just deleted...
So now there is an endeavours like system and instead of getting gold, mats and unwanted newbie stuff just for logging in, players now have to do repetitive, boring and mildly annoying chores to earn currency for a new shop were the same stuff from before is sold, but at least you now can choose which items you actually want. (To be fair, there are some very good items added every quarter, but the currency is capped and once you got all the special stuff, it's back to buying mats and gold.)
So... take what is given and smile, then silently trash what you don't want. If you complain, you might have to work for your "gifts" in the future...

Once there were interesting items in this daily rewards calendar, and the most valuable one I've ever seen was Murkmire, the complete DLC ([snip] ZoS ?).
I have several characters but they're all high level and completed the crafting skill lines and research (except Nirncrux, which is very gold-consuming), so... research scrolls, nah.
To be honest, I too am bored when I see this grid, consumables, materials, some currencies (telvar stones and AP)... from time to time a pet or a mount (but I'm not into aesthetic things)... I've love to see, I don't know, a small house, or even furnishings. Or at least, furnishing materials. I have tons of improving mats, they're just filing my bank for no reason.

Yes it has been a while. But with the current crates maybe it's a blessing.
I'd be happy with a nominal amount of gold. The fact is, if I can't use it then it's worth nothing to me, so if I got some gold instead that would be great.
It's an incentive structure that often fails to incentivize. The perceived value of the rewards is *the only thing* that is important in this context. Why would we even expect to be rewarded for merely logging in, and how can the rewards not be good enough?
