Maintenance for the week of September 22:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – September 22, 4:00AM EDT (8:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EDT (14:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – September 22, 8:00 UTC (4:00AM EDT) - 14:00 UTC (10:00AM EDT)

More than likely pushing something pretty big to live. Could be preparing for future content or something they need on live in order to continue development for future stuff. Who knows.

There is a reason it's 18 hours... there is a reason they aren't telling us why. Try to read between the lines a bit here I guess.

The June 25th maintenance for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is scheduled for 18 hours due to backend database upgrades on the PC megaservers. This extended downtime is needed for more substantial work than typical weekly maintenance.

    Here's a breakdown:
    Backend Database Upgrades:
The maintenance involves upgrading the backend systems that support the game, likely including database optimizations and potentially hardware upgrades.
    Extended Downtime:

While typical ESO maintenance might last a few hours, this one is scheduled for 18 hours (from 12:00AM EDT/ 4:00 UTC to 6:00PM EDT/ 22:00 UTC), indicating a more significant operation.

    Preparation for Events:
Some speculate the maintenance could also be related to upcoming events or content releases, requiring additional backend work.

    No Patch:
It's important to note that this is labeled as "Maintenance" not "Patch Maintenance," suggesting hardware or database work rather than a large game update.
Essentially, the longer duration is due to the complexity and scope of the database upgrades being performed, rather than a routine patch or update.

Uh, why are you quoting a comment a random forum user wrote with ChatGPT? There is no official info there and no new info at all, we all know what we speculate over, because we're literally on these forums, these speculations are ours.

The only official info we have is in the link that is also provided in the banner. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/679500. Which says "for backend database upgrades." So that's the purpose of the maintenance.

I know I am kind of dumb, but doesn't what you just linked/said basically say what my above post says? I came back and edited the post to help answer the question based on what someone else said.

Does it change the fact they are doing an 18 hour maintenance - no. Does my original post prior to the edit stand - yes.

Just trying to help. I'll see myself out.

I don't think you're dumb, and the info is mostly the same, yes. The info is mostly the same, because that ChatGPT written comment used the official post to write what was 2 lines of info, into multiple unnecessary paragraphs of texts. With mentions of what "some speculate" about and what is "likely including" stuff that is not mentioned in the official post. I just wanted to point out that we have an official post with official info, and that the comment you quoted was not official, but just a random user writing their forum comments with ChatGPT. I thought maybe you assumed that comment was some new official info or similar. And didn't want anyone else to potentially do that either.

Aside from that, the info you wrote was absolutely helpful. I really didn't mean to imply otherwise!
