What satisfaction rating do you give Solistice? 85% here. Favorite part?
Ok Solstice came out on PS4/5 last week and I have a few thoughts. I finally got the time yesterday to play for a few hours and it was not as bad as what I've read. I'm giving it an 85 percent on the satisfaction rating which is not bad at all.
Things I liked about it:
- Hardly any of the invulnerable phases on boss mobs, thanks ZoS you listened. I was seriously done with the game if that continued, it was getting old fast....
- The delves and public dungeons were quite detailed. They flowed well. The public dungeon was really well done, that had to have taken a lot of time to create.
- The landscape was well designed, it looked great and was not all the same.
- The zone itself was larger than I thought it would be after reading posts about how small it was. I take my time in new zones and walk "not ride" the entire zone breaking it into sections. I only explored a small corner of it yesterday which was nice.
- So far the quests have not been run here and talk with this NPC, then run there and talk with that one over and over.
Things I did not like:
- Not a lot of mobs in the overland other than the usual trash mobs here and there. It had the feeling of Blackwood. Well done zone but empty. There really needs to be more mobs added to zones that actually wander around with larger pathways. Most mobs just stand in the same spots other than a few humanoid ones who walk a few feet, dance or do something and walk back. I will give that some of the mobs were cool looking, the town or whatever it was that is on the southwest corner of the map had colorful mobs who looked like they were having meetings though, nice touch there btw.
- Along the same line there really need to be a few tougher mobs scattered about other than world bosses. That was done well in some of the previous zones with Wandering World Bosses and some of the same in West Weald.
- Very rarely do any of the buildings in the overland have actual doors you can use to enter and explore. There is a town that has houses built up on sticks like in Murkmire that had a lot of buildings and only one or two you could enter. The majority you could not. I think if you are going to take the time to design such a cool looking building then go the extra step and create the interior of a few just for looks, not just for when a quest is involved.
I was actually pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did yesterday. The best part IMO was the public dungeon.
I haven't tried subclassing yet though. Mainly due to time constraints.
