Just been levelling up the skill lines, going back through all 3 alliances then going to hit Coldharbour, where all the NPC's will recognise my character this time around.

Already done the Pact though I was already half way through Deshaan before the update and done the Covenant just finishing up Greenshade in the AD story line at the moment, then two more zones and Coldharbour.

Been using Aetherial ambrosia the entire time, only have Dark Magic and Shadow left to level up, along with the vampire skills/morphs since I got lucky and ran into the blood fiend NPC's encounter while in Bangrokai, I will start mixing and matching testing stuff out, really want to see if I can make a viable Vampire that is worth using.

I'm having fun playing a different game.

I have logged thousands of hours in eso, so I've really enjoyed it and miss it at times. It's the main reason I still check in on the forums.

But I have never, not one second, enjoyed being a customer of zenimax online studios. And realizing that's no longer the case hasn't stopped putting a smile on my face yet. At this point the only reason to come back would be reading an article stating there's been a change in management.

    1. One of my characters, a Templar, now has a bear. It's a fun inside joke for me, regarding his name and general inspiration. He had the moon-bear before, but the real bear... now that is fun.

    2. I could replace clunky healing lines with the Templar one... and... man that plays so much better.

    3. My necro now has Daedric pets as well, which fits his overall vibe beautifully.

There is a lot more, I am having a blast customizing my characters-

"Why did I follow him...? I don't know. Why do things happen as they do in dreams? All I know is that, when he beckoned... I had to follow him. From that moment, we traveled together, East. Always... into the East."

Subclassing is not that appealing to me.

It's nice finally having a class spammable on my Stamwarden. Pity Cutting Dive is such garbage after patch 35.

Other than that, I spend most of my time playing other games while waiting for the price of the 'Season Pass' to drop so I don't have to pay the same price as a AAA game to get half a zone and a Trial.

So far, all I did was create a new class, an Elementalist, that I've been wanting since the start of the game, for a character I specifically started for that. I've been really enjoying it thanks to the skill lines I picked with some scribed skills thrown in.

I haven't yet felt moved to change anything on my existing characters. When I ponder the options, it's hard for me to decide what I am willing to give up, and there have to be in-game reasons why my characters have the skills they have for me. For example, I can see myself slotting an Arcanist skill line on a different character because before that character caught the eye of Hermaeus Mora the character was something else and didn't suddenly forget everything they knew because they gained Arcanist powers.

There's been plenty going around. A group of old players decided to do the old Craglorn trials with the new builds and the power jump is just ridiculous and not fun.
At the end I personally felt a little saddened when I thought of all the great times in the past when we had to fight hard to just get through this content. And from the comments of other members of the group, they felt the same way.

Okay but people don't have to use the new builds in order to do the new content if the new builds are making the game and combat boring. You might be doing less damage, but if that's the tradeoff to making the game more fun, then why force yourself (not you specifically, just all in general) to use the new builds?

And there is your snag - if you are min-maxing you are trivialising content, and then you complain about it. If you want the fight to be hard, play a less optimal build. It's not like you are forced to play min-max. Play a build where you enjoy it.

But I do have the sneaking impression from comments like your and discussions about the overland difficulty toggle, that this is not really about enjoying more difficult content. I have the impression it is more about ensuring others struggle, or play as it was "meant to" (which is nonsense) or wanting to gate rewards behind higher difficulty. Which, I believe, is simply that weird thinking that others should "try harder" or "put more effort" into their game.

    Nope.

You play the way you enjoy, and others should too. So, make a build that is less good, and enjoy harder Craglorn, if thats what you want. But don't ask for all to get harder Craglorn, just because you dislike it.

While I'm very enthusiastic about subclassing I think that it lacks the feeling of a polished and finished product. With more testing and attention to detail this could have been so much better.

If you look just at your performance, it can be less fun because you feel pigeonholed into a certain playstyle and every class feels the exact same now.

What I recommend for everyone is sure, make a setup like that and save it in the armory for when you’re doing your vet hm pledges or trifecta stuff or vet trials.

But everything else? Man go to town with an elementalist, a dark paladin, a zookeeper, etc.
There’s so much cool stuff. A necro/vamp/NB thieving character is fun af man. Let loose a bit and explore it. :)

Maybe you could tell me. Because i don't see any fun in subclasses.

First we are forced to level everything up again, just so everyone can take part in that disco laser show. Do you see fun in that?
Endgame is boring easy now. They could have left a least a tiny bit of competition.

only improved passives for now. It looks promising and i dont even need crux anymore.

leveling new class skills at this stage isn't exactly fun - had to level useless skills and repeatedly got myself killed in the blackrose arena. wish we could just buy it.

I'm not really a fan of that kind of argument - just make things harder for yourself if you find things are too easy. I'm no golf player where, I think, it's something, and being well a common video and MMO games player, I rather like when the game offer you challenges to tackle and the tools to do so, in a balanced way. I really think that making things challenging and engaging are on the developpers shoulders, not on the players shoulders.

Now ESO is a bit of a strange case, Craglorn trials are pretty old, there is almost constant power creep in ESO, and well things are never the same that they were before. So taking old trials as example is a bit... mixed ( but I guess it was more nostalgia speaking in a general way ).

Still though, saying to people to stop min-maxing if they want to enjoy a game is a bit weird I feel, especialy when you talk about end game content like trials. Some people, and I think I'm among them, enjoy balanced, progressive curve of difficulty. Steam rolling stuff is not alway fun. Weakening yourself in order not to steam roll stuff is not very fun neither. But once again, I think ESO is a bit of a strange case regarding ( some ) endgame.

Anyway, I'm glad people are having fun with subclassing.

So before I say anything I have to say - I play solo almost exclusively, my builds are specifically to fill concepts I have in my head; I'm not going for anything particularly strong, just fun.

    But anyway -

I've really enjoyed it myself, been able to really create characters that fit ideas that I've had in my head for ages - my primary being my Druid, which is Warden (Animal Companions), Dragon Knight (Ardent Flame), and the third slot I flex depending on my mood, but by default it's Stormcalling.

Basically animals, poison and lightning! And when I want to I can swap in a little fire mote (in the form of Cauterize) to add healing to my little crew. - I have considered maybe trying it on Dragon Knight main and just swapping the Dragon line for Animal Companions, so I can have fire, poison and earth... but I'm not sure about that since it'd require me make a whole new character and level her up all over again; and I'm pretty happy as I am. (I just wish Stormcalling was a smidge better for nuking. I love the concept of it... I am not so thrilled with the actual way it works though much of the time..)

    ---

I've also done a Vampire build I'm pretty happy with, using Nightblade/Necromancer to give my Nightblade skeleton-summoning abilities and create spooky atmosphere (and Major Breach) with Graveyard. - Still playing with the concept so eventually she may wind up dropping Assassination for something else... but I really like it so... probably not.

I've also got an idea for a Dragon Knight/Templar Magicka build, using fire and light attacks and I have an elemental bladedancer (Sorc/DK/Warden) with lightning, ice and fire and dual-swords. - Both of those have yet to go very far yet since I'm heavily invested in my druid atm though.

Oh wait one more also in the early stages - my "Chaos Warrior" build - Dragon Knight (Draconic Power), Arcanist (Herald of the Tome; pretty much entirely for Abyssal Impact) and then the third I'm still debating - currently sticking with Earthen Heart for DK but I may go for Dark Magic or Daedra Summoning. Basically a warrior who is constantly mutating in weird ways - tentacles, spikes, wings, all that good stuff; plus sword and board.

Nothing really, as another poster stated.

As people figure out how to min/max their subclassed toons Cyrodiil is getting way out of control.

I feel like subclassing was ZOS putting their responsibility to balance the game onto the customer, and we should expect much fewer updates of any kind going forward. This is ZOS putting ESO one step closer to autopilot mode and walking away from the game in my view.

Haven’t done any subclassing, not interested.

I’m just wondering how exciting having new builds can be when there is so little new content to be done now. Unless you are into PvP, but the players I have seen in Cyrodiil with subclassing are those who love to farm AP from solos like me. That can’t be too exciting.

Not really very exciting, if you ask me. As I am primarily a solo PVE player, my interest in subclassing has been to tune the builds to do the content I already do. I'm not interested in maximum DPS because I don't do content that needs it. I;m not interested in starting, either. Survivability is more important.

I'm almost done with Update 46 on XBox, and I don't expect there to be a lot of additional stuff to do here until the Update where they finish the Solstice story.

Well I enjoy playing the side quests and daily delve/world boss quests with my other characters with their "new" skills. I understand not everybody likes to do that, but I think it certainly is somewhat exciting to be able to use different combinations in the day to day regular content.

Given Animal Companions to most classes since I like the bear. :)

This! For years I was envious of the Wardens' bear, and now I got it on my Nightblade too. It's wonderful. I just never use the ult because I don't want it to die lol.

I also made a tank build with Arcanist and Dragonknight skill lines. It's a work in progress, but it has been nice already now.

It's fun to see all the new spells and the animations and things, but I guess if people have already played all classes, then it's not so new. I just play NB all the time.
