Ran this with a pug last night, we were all 3-5 levels over the instance, but failed miserably when I was trying to tank it like a conventional boss.
The mob is permanently surrounded by a damage aura that causes massive problems for anyone inside it. As in - kills my tank with 1080 armour (without Ransack buff) and 2k health in under 10 seconds. Other characters die in 2 or 3 seconds.
Now, the Ransack skill is a melee taunt that lasts for 15 seconds, my initial plan was to run in and out, refreshing the taunt every 15, but this failed because it appears the boss's normal melee attacks put a slow debuff on the player, and the boss never stops moving.
If I face him and block, then I am moving too slowly because a) i'm going backwards and b) I'm blocking, so will never escape the damage aura. If forget about blocking, turn my back and run, I get the slow debuff and even with the sprint button mashed down, am barely faster than him, so I he get's two or three free hits on my back while taking damage from the aura while getting clear. By this point I've used over half my stamina, am at low health, and the healer has probably blown his cooldowns.
So, we decided to just let the ranged guys pop at him , whoever gets agro just runs for it. Fortunately my tank is a Templar and has a restoration staff on second bar... and with two healers (one not very good one, admittedly) , it was a snap. When he came for our main healer, he had to spint to get out of the aura so was not able to heal himself, but I was able to spam heals onto him.
Still, feel sorry for anyone without a ranged option at all...
