Accessing eso while traveling

Just wondering with my primarily location in US - as I am planning almost month long trip over 7 eu countries, whether it is allowed to access eso via Xbox cloud gaming - or if that would or can result in a ban?

I've never heard of anyone getting banned for playing while travelling.

Anyone in the world can play on the NA or EU servers, or both (and many people do play on both) so you don't need to worry about access to the one you normally play on being restricted because of your real-world location. You'll probably need to use a verification code each time you log in from a new location, so you should make sure you have access to the email address or device it's sent to, but other than that you shouldn't have a problem.

I don't see why you would be banned. I've traveled a lot in the past and played ESO on my gaming laptop from various locations around the world. What happens is (at least to me) was when I logged in from a "foreign" location I would get the "Unknown I.P." message and that an email with a login code to verify it is me has been mailed to my email account. 24 hours to get it and login.

That's it. So be sure to have access to the email account for your account to receive the code. This was for PC NA.

It almost seems silly to talk about this, and thinking about all the benign ways you can go/play wrong that might result in a ban. Though tbh I don't think about ways to cheat or exploit, which means I'll easily overlook those exploit options. Trying to plug the holes for the people that do cheat/exploit is both good and important.

I have heard of people getting a ban from changing their country of origin in relation to travel. It's not the same thing as you're asking though. For full disclosure; this is second hand information I read a while ago, and the other is someone I played with who told me on discord. I have not verifyed that everything they said was true, but I do know for sure that my friend on discord traveled for work, he obviously didn't talk about changing account settings until after the ban, and was very confused and sad about it since he'd traveled lived and worked in another country for the time his account was set for that country. But I also know that it's hard to tell people who do cheat/exploit from those who do not and get banned by mistake - sometimes people who do bad things just don't want to admit it (and sometimes a ban IS an overreaction, and sometimes not, it can be subjective).
Both of the ones I remember well enough to talk about, traveled and changed country of origin on their eso-account in connection with that, and returned home after a while and changed it back. One of them had a longer duration of some months, the other one I don't remember. Both got banned for the change in residence country they say, I don't know what message they got, only that they were banned.
I am guessing zos tagged it as someone trying to score cheaper subs or crowns, but I don't know ofc. I'm pretty sure they'd have liked to be aware of what to do in case of travel, to avoid a ban.

The tldr is ask support what is allowed to do. Describe it as you did here, and ask if that's allowed, and ask what you should alternatively do if they say that it isn't.

ESO is self-published, so you won't run into issues like IP blocking because you are in a different publisher's region.

I have had no problems playing ESO while outside of NA (other than a bit more latency).

This and this is also true for some ISP who tend to randomly give you new IP adresses as not using the net during the night.
Had one contractor who had this at home, he simply turned off hibernation and had an program do an ping from time to time to not reset public IP so we needed to enable his IP again.

Obviously playing on the US servers in Europe and often on horible WIFI exepect serious lags.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Thanks for replies.

I’m simply worried as it appears a lot of their systems are automated and since I will be cloud gaming through Xbox I’m not too worried about NA vs EU server, rather the “automated flags” that I have accessed account from an different country, and that locking me out … kind of like how I have to tell CC company I’m traveling or they’ll lock my card.
