Coldharbour Fishing Not Fun

I'm currently working my way through the zones for the master angler achievement. Nearly half way through everything and working on coldharbour at the moment. I have all of the fish except 1 and have burned through nearly 800 crawlers just trying to get the last one, but that isn't the problem. The problem is the distinct lack of fishing holes in general. I have no problem seeing and finding them when they're actually there, but each main body of water only has 1 MAYBE 2 fishing holes. So once you've emptied them, you're spending the next 5-10 minutes hunting for your next hole. I've literally spent more time running around looking for fishing holes, than I have actually fishing. Up until now, I've enjoyed fishing in the other zones, but fishing in coldharbour just sucks.

I doubt this will be very useful to you, considering how far you are, but I hope they bring back the 'solution' for fishing they introduce with the pan-tamriel celebration ( I was too lazy to fully take advantage of it ). Like many collecting things in ESO, it's way better to do them while an event is active.

I've always found Coldharbour to be one of the easiest fishing achievements.....

I see you are on xbox so no addons but I also presume you have the "Angler's Instinct" cp slotted and are at least using Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl with added benefit from Sharp-as-night if you have him?

Below is the map generated by one of my addons, as you can see there are a couple of areas bottom left and middle left that should always have multiple holes up!

I know you cannot recreate this in game but maybe you could use it for reference on your phone? <3
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

There are more than you think. I thought I had no problem seeing them myself at first (despite them being much harder to see than in other zones), but there are many that just don't have the right backdrop/terrain aroud them to give off any visual cues.

Then when I started referencing https://housetertia.com/fishing-map/ I found that many that no way would I have ever spotted them unless by random happenstance I walked right through them.

Deadlands can be the same way as well. But for different reasons.

The problem with Coldharbor is that in other zones you need to get 3-4 unique fish of 3-4 water type.
So after fishing 3 of four unique fish its an 25% chance of getting the missing so first fish is always unique, second fish is probably also unique 75% for an new unique, then its 50% to two is needed last is 25% so 4.

In Coldharbor its 10% chance of getting the last unique fish, 20% for getting the 9/10 unique.
So its much more grindy than other default zones.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I used this site for my fishing endeavors. I highly recommend it.

I miss only one fish to complete the zone and after weeks without getting it, I have given up. I didn't retry since then. So I feel your pain too.

Side note: the zone was - for me - extremely tiring for the eyes. I did use a food that highlight the fish holes and it helped somewhat, but pffff... :s

I know there are a few in the public dungeon and you may try Vaults of Madness to see if there are any in there. I know of some dungeons that have fishing spots.

I hated that one as well!
Though I dislike any zone that only has one category of fish because of the awful rng for the last ones needed.
I use maps of the zones fishing holes, google something like "Coldharbor fishing". Potentially put eso in front if it's a zone that occurs in skyrim too. Maps are really helpfull for the zones that have only a few of certain types of fishing holes too - so thank you to the people that gathered and provided the information :)
