@ZOS_Kevin i know the zones are getting updates to textures and appearance is it possible to have the DEVS look at doing that to character models to specifically lower res stuff like hands and feet

Also, I would love for in-game characters to look like they appear on character selection screen, but my understanding is that as soon as you are playing the quality of the models drops.

It's not the model changing, it's the light of the environment that makes your character look different. Your character model looks exactly as you set up the sliders, but the relation between shadow and light on your characters face will differ in the open world to an enclosed space with specifically setup neutral light.

Yeeeeaaaaah the character creation graphics are over 10 years old. They were like that in Beta too. Definitely the time to refresh the CC with better textures and models. I assure you, ZOS, that some more polygons on player characters won't kill the game.

BUT BUT BUT ... ESO must remain compatible with Ye Olde SteamBoxe Gaming Console! There are, perhaps, 7 or 8, retired elementary school teachers who still game on it, along with playing Tetris and attempting to balance their check book.

Hey! I am not retired, or an elementary school teacher, and I don't play Tetris, and what's a check book?

    I want to be considerate.

But I also want them to drop support for the base Xbox One and PS4 models by this point.

Updates are always good! Though I think the models still look pretty nice. Admittedly I use a subtle shader that slightly lessens the yellow-ish bloom (probably not actually bloom but I don't know what it's called), which brings out the textures much better.

I think the animations need updates instead, they often look stiff. I read somewhere that they were actually working on that, so hopefully in the future.

The character creator needs some updates though! In addition to different lighting previews, it would be nice if you could preview your unlocked collectibles (hair styles, makeup, tattoos, etc.) on them!

Nothing more annoying than having to screenshot your sliders every time when making a character, to avoid redoing everything again once you find out the hairstyle you imagined looked good, looks terrible because the eyes look too high with a fringe, or something.

Speaking of sliders, it would be nice if they were numbered, and for the triangle sliders to show the XY position.

I don't have a problem with the character models as they are.

But let's remember: the 'retexture' of the old Redguard armor. The 'retexture' of the old UI. ZOS certainly has a habit of 'retexturing' things to make them look completely different.

Also the one thing I'll point out is Ithelia - she was designed with a more detailed model than the current characters, and as a result fell right into the Uncanny Valley since she didn't fit into the game anymore. If you update the characters without updating everything/i] else, then our characters will no longer visually fit into the game... and "oh, just update literally everything!" is essentially saying "can we get ESO2?"

I'd love to be able to save our sliders to some in-game folder but just numbering them clearly would be a very nice help.

i like how my characters look and i do not want them to be changed by an update.

expanded sliders would be nice though, so i can make my characters less skinny.

I'm fine with the character models, and as other people have said concerned that an "upgrade" would also mean some form of redesign that would make at least some characters worse.

Two examples I've used before are: someone who had to push sliders to the maximum to get the look they wanted, then finds the upgrade has increased the available range of those sliders, so now their character looks wildly distorted, and someone who wants their character to have hard features getting an increased polygon count (a commonly requested form of upgrade) which softens all those hard edges and makes their character look nothing like they intended.

If they did it I think they need to give everyone a free appearence change token for each character to enable them to make any necessary corrections to the "improved" model.

But honestly I've never seen a game which forced changes on characters appearence after they were created which was well recieved. Even Pokemon Go had people quit because their characters were ruined forever and it was hardly known for great character customisation before then.

Just think of all the appearance change tokens they can sell when they screw everyone's characters looks up, sure they might give us one or maybe 3 tokens as compensation, which does next to nothing for those of us with anywhere up to 20 characters.

I'd leave this game if they change my chars. Too many games do this and new models are always souless and look like plastic. NO THANKS.

I don't expect the character models or textures will ever be changed. The Boob-Window debacle that was part of Update 6, for historical context.

Ya, this one always pains me because there are other "bald" hairstyles that have a smoother round head. I have worked in 3D software in the past, it's not a hard thing to swap out and I highly doubt the increase in polygons is going to crash consoles.

Exactly! Regular bald doesnt have the visible triangles. @ZOS_Kevin can you pass this on to be looked at? We've been waiting for 11 years

Character texture/resolution updates would be great, but it will never happen.

I would be happy with if they just removed the sharp angles from male characters chests. They got sharp polygon angles on their pecs!
