I made this point on the PTS: double skill points & twice the exp is not a real balancing mechanism, it's a time sink/engagement farming mechanism only. If the game is meant to be "play your way" or whatever, then it's really hard to see any justification.

The feature came out way too quickly.

I have like 160 skill points in reserve that I don't use. And the 1500 to change subclasses is peanuts.

But I voted NO because this is not new player friendly at all. 1500 gold is a lot when you are still managing bag and mount upgrades and getting skillpoints is also a bit collecting grind if you just started out.

I also really hate the fact that they require to level all those skills lines again, even if you had alts where you maxed those skills. Really dumb decision but they probably need high "engagement numbers" , so they decided to make people level this stuff all over again. Also not player friendly.

The reason for the skill points is to encourage new players to actually get out in the world and grind for skyshards... and also to increase sales in the Crown Store for players with alts.

1500 gold is nothing for a new player, you can afford it very quickly.

It is explained during the (small) quest that subclassing is something that comes after and in addition to your class. So it is not planned to be immediately accessible otherwise ZOS would have made sure to select the subclasses from the creation of the character.

We are not on endgame content either, but it is not something that is done immediatly especially when we start the game and we start to create a character.

Personally I find that subclassing should cost 3 skill points. Because this is worth, we easily gain skill points in Tamriel, between quests and shards.
The new player must favor his own class.

Yes, because it brings meaning and worth to the otherwise worthless and pointless skill points after a certain threshold.

And skill points are plenty and easy to get nowadays.

They were going to have to do that anyway because they will need to invest on:

    1. Crafting skills
    2. Antiquities
    3. PVP skill lines
    4. Undaunted/Fighter's Guild/Mage's Guild Skill lines
    5. Psijic/Darkbrotherhood/Thieves Guild Skill lines
    6. Legedermain Skill line
    7. Armor Skill line

    e.t.c

So new players have enough incentives to quest (not to mention that the quests are voice-acted and pretty fun the first time around).
Forcing them to pay an additional tax on top of the things they are already getting is unnecessary.

For veteran players with multiple characters, it is tempting to use the cash shop, as you pointed out, but do note that many individuals paid 50 USD for the content pass and pay 15 USD per month for ESO+, so they are already paying enough for the game. For a game with lootboxes (crown crates), an optional subscription, and Expansions, there's no need to monetize this heavily. It decreases player trust in the company.

Yes, because it is how TES has always modeled player classes: they can reach outside their toolbox, but progression will be slower.

Classes are more like "talents" now - a talented Nightblade can still be a sorcerer, but it is more difficult than just being a Nightblade. Skill points are a mechanical abstraction.

In D&D and most other rpg's its customary to spend double points on subclass skills, but since it takes a lot more grinding to gain skill points in ESO I'd rather they didn't and just let me try out my build and have fun doing that.

    Fun. Remember fun?

I say no, but I think subclassing definitely needs some drawback.

I would've preferred the subclassing drawback to be that a subclass line's values are like 20% weaker than a main class's.

ex. main class heal for 10k: subclass version heals for 8k
main class skill gives 100 regen: subclass version gives 80 regen
    etc
