[Housing] Request for Assistance RE: Varlaisvea Ayleid Ruins Project

Greetings fellow housing enthusiasts,

I am writing this in an attempt to reach out to the ESO housing community for help. I've always been a huge fan of all things Ayleid and had acquired and decorated the Varlaisvea Ayleid Ruins some time ago. After I realized that new Ayleid structural furnishings were introduced to the game I decided to tackle what I now know to have been the rather ambitions project of attempting to recreate an Ayleid Palace at the overlook portion of the house. I knew from that start that I wanted to incorporate the already existing structures because there simple aren't enough available Aylied pieces to create everything from scratch while still fitting within the 700 pieces limit.

So with that in mind I decided to build 2 towers around the existing gates, connect them with a curtain wall separating the central pool/courtyard from the rest of the outlook, and lastly creating a third larger and more elaborate tower in the back abutting the mountainside (so that I wouldn't have to build out the back since that part isn't visible or reachable by the player). I have depicted this on the in-game map of the house and attached it below along with some screenshots of what I've already tried to put together to illustrate my vision.

Well things started off smoothly and I quickly settled on the [Ayleid Column, Short] as my main building material after I saw how well two columns can be fitted together creating a little alcove where their grooves meet which I could then imbed with a [Blue Crystal Spire] to mimic a Welkynd stone (as the real ones available in the game are simply too bright). Unfortunately, I hit a snag when I realized that no matter how hard I tried I could not get the columns to align vertically or position them so that they would form a uniform circular tower shape because when I tried to adjust individual pieces it kept distorting the shape. This is the part I need help with. I am by no means a housing maven, and in fact this is my first attempt at building things from scratch, so I would benefit immensely from the guidance of someone more experienced who wouldn't mind being my proverbial Obi-Wan.

I will greatly appreciate any and all input! "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope!"

@Imperial_Archmage are you on PC or Console?

If you are on PC then I can show you how to make a circular building using Essential Housing Tools but if you are on console sorry I cannot help. :(

I knocked this together pretty quickly using the items you stated you were using, it is not perfectly circular but could be probably improved upon...... I used 8 of the columns in this picture.

Hey @freespirit, thanks for replying! I am on PC-NA. I didn't realize there was an addon for this sort of thing, like I said I am pretty new to it, haha. I was able to do this manually, although it took an embarrassingly long time, but the issue I was referring to arises when I try to align them vertically in order to create the second and third story of the tower. There is a lot of clipping because the top and bottom parts of the column are different and if I want to keep the clean line at the top I have to pull down the second story column partway into the first as well as push it back to avoid the base clipping through. And then there is the issue of scale which means I can't just snap them together to make a nice uniform circular shape because I need to widen the circle to accommodate the existing architectural elements that come with the house and can't be edited.

It sounds very complicated but it's easy to see when you look at it. I will look into that addon and see if I can add you so that you can take a look at it yourself when you get a chance.

Thanks again for reaching out, I really appreciate it!

    I'm on PC-EU unfortunately.

However EHT as well as building all kinds of shapes has some wonderful alignment tools too!

Plus it has a copy/paste feature, so you can build your first floor, then copy another on top of it, then use the available tools to raise up the copy, these tools can be fine tuned as to how far each press moves the selected item.

Honestly as a builder I could not survive without it, I am constantly amazed by the builder's on consoles!! <3

Oh just to add you could flip your second floor over(EHT will help you do that) so the bottom becomes the top and therefore the two joined surfaces will be the same. 🙂

I just installed it, I had no idea it was a thing. Looks like it will be super useful! I am so glad I decided to reach out instead of struggling on blindly, really appreciate you bringing it to my attention!

You are welcome, it is fairly extensive but there are videos that explain a lot of the features, happy building!! 💕
