How long have you played on each class?

I wanted to see how much I've played on each of the different classes before subclassing gets introduced in the game next week, since this metric won't be as meaningful once we choose to use subclassed skill lines on a character. Therefore, I totaled the playtime I have on each class on my account, on both the NA and EU servers (since I play on both), and these are my results:

e867c69br75n.png

I wasn't surprised with sorc being my most played class, since my 'main' Vestige is a sorc, and I do all questing, solo PvE content, housing, crafting, and daily writs with that character (besides the Jubilee anniversary, during which I do writs on my alts as well). I also wasn't surprised at NB being the second highest, because I run a lot of PvP and PvE group content on my NBs as well. Templar being a close third was a bit surprising at first, but in hindsight, one of my PvE Templars also doubles as my AR50 character, so it makes sense to have spent a big chunk of time with them. The rest of the classes have similar percentages, but given how much newer the Arcanist is, it means that I have played them much more relative to when I first created them. Finally, I always thought the class I was least familiar with was DK, but it's actually the Necromancer, even though their numbers are close.

I'm mostly optimistic about subclassing, because there are skills from other classes I really like, but I got used to doing things on the same few characters, so it will be nice to borrow skills from other classes and re-familiarize with them. I still think it's sad how the era of pure classes is ending--at least for those of us who will eventually participate in the new system--the concept of having a main class and playing it through nerfs or buffs... but the game is evolving, and so must we. That's why I wanted to have this metric as a memento before the next patch is released, and if others wish to share how long they've played on the different classes, if they're surprised or not by the results, and whether they will choose to participate in subclassing, please add your thoughts to the thread :)

I have logged into each character of mine. Here are the results. I think i will probably not going to play anything other than Nightblade and Arcanist as main character class with subclassing coming. But who knows what meta will tell.

    Necromancer: 17 Days 23 Hours
    Templar: 20 Days 23 Hours
    Sorcerer: 23 Days 11 Hours
    Dragonknight: 25 Days 20 Hours
    Warden: 50 Days 11 Hours
    Arcanist: 73 Days 23 Hours
    Nightblade: 888 Days 16 Hours

I imagine sorc, necro and arc to be my highest. I've only played others enough to level them.

You can type '/played' (without the quotation marks) in the chat box in-game, and it will show you how long you played the character you are logged in with.

    Dragonknight: 80 days, 23 hours, 2 minutes, 48 seconds
    Nightblade: 19 days, 17 hours, 39 minutes, 31 seconds
    Sorcerer: 22 days, 13 hours, 22 minutes, 26 seconds
    Warden: 16 days, 6 hours, 45 minutes, 18 seconds

I find it amusing that the official breakdown goes all the way to seconds. Also, I would have thought the time for my dragonknight would have been more. Spread out over eight and a half years that really doesn't come to much.

I have two of each class, so I just combined them.

    Sorcerers: 43 days 23 hours
    Nightblades: 29 days 10 hours
    Dragonknights: 27 days 19 hours
    Wardens: 26 days 16 hours
    Necromancers: 25 days 7 hours
    Templars: 24 days 19 hours
    Arcanists: 20 days 22 hours

I would imagine sorcerer is so much higher due to one of them being my Grand Master crafter.

Hard to say, since I delete and make new characters often. If I had to estimate I would say:

    (40%) Necromancer
    (20%) Arcanist
    (20%) Sorcerer
    (10%) Nightblade
    (7%) Dragonknight
    (3%) Templar

And time spent in the game overall across multiple platforms and 10 years is probably over 5k hours.

Poor Sorcerer. I'll most likely add the Storm Calling skill line to a couple of characters in the future, which probably means that I'll use the actual Sorcerer even less (I'm not interested in the pets and I feel like Dark Magic isn't really worth using without some buffs).

Fairly reflects my preferences in questing, pve and pvp.

As for subclassing, I canned some armoury slots for each char. So I'll be able to play subclasses and return to pure old builds for nostalgy.
I still love the old classes despite any nerfs and updates.

I didn't log into every character, but I did hop on my most played for most of the classes:

    Sorc: 248D
    Temp: 10D
    NB 8D
    DK 7D
    Ward 6D

Necro/Arcanist are probably closer to the Warden due to recency. Didn't check.

I also have multiples of each class, outside of the sorc, I expect that each of those numbers are probably actually double across other characters for each class. Sorc is my main for PVE content, so that 248 days reflects a ton of content and achievement grinding.

I'd say I started playing the most around 2019, when we got Elsweyr and the Necromancer class. Loved the class ever since, despite how few things the class had going for it on release.

Probably more around 5-6k hours if I'm being more accurate, since steam shows I spent over 3k hours playing Elden Ring over 2022-2024, and pre-2019 I didn't play nearly as much as I do now.

But yeah, I probably average 6 hours a day playing ESO.. Probably not great for my health lol but I love the game and the community!

Not positive, but you might be able to tell which one is my Main.

This also isn't accurate, considering the characters I've deleted in the past. I particularly had a Templar I played for a long while before stupidly getting rid of. As well as my original Sorcerer.

Lol jokes aside, nice Dragonknight main, what kind of build do you enjoy? I've had trouble enjoying Dragonknight since I like to play from range and the interesting flame/poison themed spells are more melee focused. Really wanted to make the Stone fist ability work, but the initial melee cast and the cost of the ability just makes it unviable outside of maybe applying stagger stacks to help the group dps when playing as tank.

In eleven years, never have tabulated, much less considered it...until now. (all numbers are in hours)

    Sorc: 5321 (5 chrs, obviously my main-lol)

    Temp: 1250 (3)

    NB: 964 (3)

    DK: 683 (3)

    Ward: 425 (3)

    Arc: 155 (3)

    Necro: 141 (1)

It's funny how the class most played is likeliest to benefit from subclassing (as no-pet gets nerfed). I will admit to also being optimistic about the upcoming changes, but would've welcomed the addition of new scribed skills for each class line as an alternative.

I knew Necro would be #1 as before the class came out I wasn't really attached to any character enough to call it my "main", but I'm surprised with the other results. Sorc was my first character followed by NB when the game released, but I at max level I played the DK and Templar much more so to see the numbers so even and Templar at 2nd least played when it's my 3rd favorite class was unexpected. I knew Arcanist would be last as I didn't make one until last year.

Total of 7604 hours played over the last 11 years and 181 days on my main Necro.

This one have played for 118 days and 8 hours in total for 8 years, 6 months and 4 days, that is (according to math) 55 mins per day....

60.5 days (1453 hours) was spent as a Dragon Knight where 48 of those days was with my main char.
    21.5 days (516 hours) as a Sorcerer
    11.8 days (282 hours) as a Templar
    10.7 days (256 hours) as a Warden
7.2 days (173 hours) as a Night Blade
    6.7 days (160 hours) as a Necromancer

I have 11 chars in total and all are currently at level 1750.

Yes indeed :D Right out of the gate day 1 I knew DK was going to be my main and he's pretty much been my focus. The other classes I have enjoyed though are Arcanist (probably the only other class anywhere close to becoming a "new main") and Warden (Mostly because of the healing style they have) I also want to make a good bomber / assassin with a NB.

Pic of my /played on my main in my house :) I omitted most of chat to protect their conversations of course.

lol its funny you pick out Templar they are honestly my least favorite class to play, but I wanted to have 1 of every class to at least try out and play around with. They're all lvl 50 (most power leveled of course) :)

My tank though is first and foremost a PvE Tank always has been. He's running Imperium, Juggernaut and Swarm Mother Monster set. With the addition of scribing he now has a very nice AoE pull using Leashing Burst, I absolutely freaking love it <3 and I'm looking forward to getting the necro shield ability with the pull on it I cant think of the name of it off the top of my head when we get subclassing next week :) If you want the full build just let me know and I'll be glad to post it :)

Other than that he has like 7 or 8 other builds varying mostly with DPS in mind. I've made a nice little AoE Bomb build that is fun to play with him too. But yea you hit the nail on the head about DK's being more melee focused. Which I love the up in your face gameplay which that's another reason I went DK because they do excel at close ranged combat and who doesn't love alot of fire right? :D
