This "quest" keeps showing up although Brondold is dead. The icon will appear on the compass (and title) in the place of the current quest until I get closer to the quest or character in question.
Quitting or logging out will not reset or get rid of it.

Western Skyrim first Zone Story Quest > The Gathering Storm.
The very first part where I was given the initial quest, so-to-speak and started following the clues.
This issue went away when completed that quest and started the second Story Quest.
