Do mobs have armor or not?

Hi.

Ive read somewhere mobs have no armor at all in this game, only players have.
Is that true???

It would be real lame if mobs have no armor at all since there are various skills, traits and sets that "reduce target armor by X" or "ignore X target armor" that would be useless on PVE.

Have some one verified this? Just a rumour?

With all the sets bonuses and enchantments you really think npc doesnt have armor?

I duno, thats why im asking since ive read it some where people have tested and there seemed not to be big variations in damage and would also explain things like "mark target" bug ie.

Im concerned since im using a skill that reduces rarget armor by 40% and the Nigth Mother set (-20% target armor on crit).

Why not get yourself combat log or something that tells damage/enemy hp and test with and without armor reductions?

The only way one could test this is with 0% crit chance and no spells just melee normal attacks and time it on the same monster a few times. maybe il try it when i get home. i also have nights mother gaze

Mobs/bosses have indeed armor/sr and its easy to test using the 1h&s skill or destro staff debuff.

However, the amount even veteran bosses have is nothing compared to what players usually stack/use in PvE or PvP.

Normal mobs seem to have around 300-500 armor/sr, while bosses seem to range from 400-700. This is ~5-15% mitigation.

So in most cases u will increase your own DPS by ~5-8%, with the usual -500 armor or -40%-60% armor/sr reduction/ignore.

    Conclusion:

In a PvE dungeon typical group situation (tank/dps/dps/healer) this "may" result in a avg. 8% DPS increase, this ofc depends what type u debuff and what type of attacks your dps use.

For solo PvE, this also means its rather useless and the skill slot should be used for something better or at least should come from a weapon proc. I would also guess that -500 armor via proc is always more DPS than those xy fire/frost/shock procs, how it compares to the rage glyph i cant guess.

In PvP, this can dramatically increase your DPS, since players stack armor/sr way higher and the skill "Imoveable" is very popular for its anti CC property, but also gives like 800 armor/sr.
As example the NB mark "ignores" 75% and coupled with a skill/weapon proc, will bring the target near to the max capped value of 95%. So basically u get attacked and will attack them as if they had no armor/sr at all.

    Conclusion:

In a PvE dungeon group situation u can now multiply this ~8% dps increase, by the number of damaging players. So 2.5-3 are good numbers, since 2x DPS and tank+healer count as 0.5-1. We than get 8%*3 = 24%

Thats not right. The math doesnt work like that. If your group of 3 dps has a gain of 8% each then the group dps goes up 8% not 24.
    100+100+100 = 300
    108+108+108 = 324
    324/300 = 1.08 which is an 8% gain.

I'm not sure if those bonuses work correctly but I significantly less damage on the ones that seem to be dressed in Heavy Armor. This is a pretty controlled situation using veiled strikes coming out of stealth. It seems to take cloth to 40% health, medium to about 50% health and heavy to 65% health with the attack. This is in VR zones fighting with identical setup against the same packs just different armor skins on them. So I'm pretty sure they do have armor.

    Oh ofc, u are correct!

I confused this with the other way around. I mean u actually can increase it by 8% even in a group situation, compared to a skill that just ups your own DPS by 8%, which would only result in a 2.6% DPS increase in total, in a typical group situation.
