Why is ESO starting up like I just installed it?

This has randomly been happening the past couple of months. I'll start ESO, and it will behave as if I've just installed it. It will ask me to accept the user agreement, select screen brightness, select country, and then my add ons and computer settings are gone. This is about the third time this has happened. Does anyone know why this is happening? Does this have something weird to do with OneDrive, which I have come to despise?

This happens occasionally to me as well. I suspect that the application fails when writing to UserSettings.txt and sets it to default values.

I now have a duplicate of UserSettings.txt that I copy back to the Elder Scrolls Online/live folder after the game crashes.

If I forget then the game wakes up fresh after crashing with all the prompts etc. I force-quit the game and copy back my UserSettings.txt again and restart the game, then all's well again.

Maythor: honestly we're getting the supermarket treatment here ... shrinkflation with the addition of simply moving things about so they seem fresher .. all the while being told a corporation is our friend :P

If it comes with strings, it ain't free. It isn't a gift with purchase; you were overcharged. Companies don't love you; they love money.

I_CraftwithPntButter: 2023 is the year your supposed to be doing better , remember ? (Still waiting for that in 2025)

Advice for the future : com·mu·ni·ca·tion (noun)the imparting or exchanging of information or news.
