Vet Spindleclutch Gargoyle Boss

Our small guild completed our first veteran dungeon last night, Spindleclutch. However, we cheated by skipping the second boss (the gargoyle guy). We ran it with a V2 light armor pure healer templar, a V2 heavy armor sword and board nightblade tank, a V7 light armor nightblade healer/dps, and a V2 two hander heavy armor sorc tank/dps (me). We managed to do it all without wiping once. I had previously run the dungeon with other guild members and failed to complete the last boss.

After completing all bosses but the second which we snuck past, we went back to try and complete that boss. We were able to simple stand in his point blank AoE as opposed to running away and getting crushed by the rocks. However, I don't think we had enough DPS to finish him before his 2 minute rage timer. Does anyone have any suggestions for beating this boss?

You really are hurting yourself with all of the hybrids. This fight is a straight dps race. Even the healer and tank should be putting out some dps. Assuming everyone has enough health to not get one shot, they should all stay in and get healed through the AoE (unless they can outrange it without a dps loss). The tank should take very little damage aside from the AoE, and the power attack that directly follows it. They should be able to slot some damage abilities. They just need to make sure they have stamina left over to block the power attack. The healer should have some time to spare in between healing up the AoE to do some dps as well (for your templar that should mean backlash/power of light).

I find that at the lower veteran levels me and my group couldn't quite do enough dps for the infamous gargoyle, when me and my group were all VR4 we just about pulled it off. I went back there with a VR10 group since im now VR10 and we just completely destroyed him!
tl;dr: come back to the boss when you are high level, it's only a achievement you gain from killing the gargoyle.

mate the dungeon is VR 1-5... and you'r suggesting to do it at VR 10... is like saing to go and do grotto normal mode at lvl 30...

    now... about the real problem...

    1 healer,
    1 tank,
    1 hybrid dps tank
    1 hybrid dps healer

and you don't understand why you have problem with a dps run?
there is not a single pure dps in you party... how are you supposed to pass a dps check? here a few suggestion:

    1) remove the second healer... actualy you can remove the pure healer and have the hybrid healer for thsi boss... it only do sensible damage during it's aoe phase and if everyone block there is no risk to be oneshotted... just one or 2 AoE heals after that will be enough to have eveerybody full hp.... and the tank only really need to block the charged attack... the normal hit from this boss are quite light

    2) remove the hybrid dps/tank... really... why you even bring an hybrid dps tank ? there is no boss that require a double tank... and during trash mob it's not about tanking them but about controlling them... the best "trash tank" I've seen so far is a light armored DK dps... just spamming Rune and tendrils to hold melee mob in place and ranged stunned... and you can do the same with any other class.. dk just do it a little better due to tendrils not havign a target limit and being 360° AoE

    3) remember that you can use instant cast skill while blocking... this mean that even during the AoE phase while blocking to reduce the damage DPS should continue to hit the boss... this is a dps run... you can't stop the dps and hope to cloear it ^^

I AM THE HYBRID DPS/TANK... I really should have built light or medium armor instead of heavy. Oh well, I enjoy playing a hybrid build.

I am VR10, and I've completed all the veteran dungeons so far. In my honest opinion, the 6-10 dungeons are considerably easier than the 1-5 ones. Banished Cells is an exception, as most of its bosses can be trivialized by bugs and cleansing. The DPS race in Spindleclutch is by far the most difficult out of all the DPS races I have encountered so far. That's saying something, as the DPS race from Elden Hollow was a complete joke by comparison.

I've beat him as a VR1 with a group of VR<5 (later also as a VR3 with a group of VR1-3s). It is a dps check. Make sure to bring lots of single target dps. Be prepared to heal through the aoe in the very end, spam execute, make sure your ults are all charged to full before engaging.
