Tamriel currency

Sllocsredle
Learning about game currency is fun and is helpful growing in the game. I read about 25,000 septims cost around $143 that also equates to about a little over 3 million in game dollars.

The question I have is there a currency translator or generator that is available to understand what actual cost is for the different currencies for previous games? I like to think of Tamriel currency in learning real cost of items in game. I really like learning about the crowns that are available for real money to pay into the game. I do not see the point of paying in game gold for entering inside housing

I did not see any info in the site, so thought the forum was a good place to understand

Not specifically what you were asking for, but there's a good overview of how the game currencies fit into the lore of ESO, Skyrim, etc. here:

Relating to real world currency is something else, though!

You may be equating things falsely here.

When people talk about a conversion between Crowns and Gold, it has nothing to do with the value in-game of those items. That's an exchange rate based on the relative economy of the server and is solely player-derived. As such, we really have no "official" Gold <-> real money equivalent because Crowns are technically an out-of-universe currency anyway.

You can try to relate the in-game currencies (Gold, Tel Var, AP, Writ Vouchers, Undaunted Keys, Imperial Fragments, Archival Fortunes) based on specific things, but even that may not be wholly consistent. For example, you can buy a Scribing Altar for 30k Archival Fortunes, 1M AP, or 800 writ vouchers. There's also the Archival Treasury Lockbox pouch, which buys 5K Gold for 4K Fortunes. There's also the Alliance style mats in the IC Sewers vs. Cyrodiil that sell for 1K TV or 10K AP.

So in short, you can try to come up with an interconnected exchange rate, but let's face it... that'll be wildly off. Most people will sell stuff they bought with other currencies on Guild Traders based on the difficulty of obtaining or rarity of said currency rather than it's direct value going through each conversion.

And then of course, Crowns and Gems are out-of-game currencies that only have value relative to what players ascribe to it. That means we can't directly convert any of these currencies to "real world money" either... and if we could we'd get some bizarre values (like a single potato costing a whopping 150 Gold from a grocer, whereas an ancient Ayleid throne is only 50K)
