Do you think that they are in cahoots with the winners? Arranging this within the matching system seems like a stretch. Anything is possible, of course (playing during off peak hours would increase the probability of matching with the co-conspirators). Still, the efforts seem not worth the rewards to me .

It's possible that someone is running multiple account to try and get them matched against eachother. Again though, a small reward granted many times is sufficient to reap a large reward and especially if that is done with a number of acounts at the same time.

Occam’s razor. If the behavior continues after the Golden Pursuits with the ToT on it, then it might be something other than players just wanting credit for playing a game.

Except, it's also one of the weekly endeavors this week. In light of the fact that the other two weekly endeavors cannot be completed as quickly, plus the fact that the 2 Golden Pursuits involving Tales of Tribute have been out for a while and aren't required for earning the pinnacle reward (since 8 of the 28 pursuits can be skipped), I'd guess that this incidence is related to the weekly endeavor rather than the Golden Pursuits.

I didn’t notice that, but it works just the same, players who don’t normally play ToT wanting to get credit for playing (and not caring to win) rather than some complicated scheme to maximize reward boxes.

Also, do we get Anniversary event coffers from completing ToT matches? I know the NPC matches only seldom reward them in the individual match rewards, even if the final reward from Kishka does, but I have no idea whether individual matches against other players reward event coffers.

Ah, so it was! I hadn't seen this thread until a little while ago and didn't notice the date on the OP.
But we can probably expect to see this type of behavior pop up whenever ToT matches are included in the endeavors or the pursuits. It might also happen outside of those times-- in which case, it's almost certainly an attempt to farm reward coffers-- but hopefully not as rampantly.

How is the reward box idea complicated? Hypothetically, it is less complicated than other exploits that involve bots. A program pressing stagnant places on a screen would be much easier to design.

Getting a bot to look at a map with node markers and interacting with them seems relatively easy, but getting one to respond to the ToT prompts at exactly the right time would be a mountain of work. The rewards from ToT are mostly mats so it would be easier to just let the bots farm nodes. Probably more efficient timewise too.

Everything could be done by looping the same few mouse clicks. The accounts in question were just playing 1 or 2 gold and ending their turn with zero other interaction.

Isn’t there a queue though? How would a bot handle that?
