You can find the reason why in this very thread:I have no idea why it can't work exactly like the crafting bag.
They explained in the post show why that is: the databases wouldn't be able to handle it with the shear amount of different furnishing items that exist in game. With the craft bag, there are a fixed amount of items for which they only have to increase a number when you add something to the bag. While with a real furnishing bag, it would require database inserts when items are put into a furnishing bag. And database insert commands cost way much more than increasing a number as far as server resources go. Their database developers told him that that would basically break the database server.
So this is a compromise. Of course, I would have loved a real furnishing bag. But since that is not possible, this is at least something.

I have no idea why it can't work exactly like the crafting bag. Pick up a furniture piece, and *poof* it's in your limitless side-inventory. THAT'S the "furniture vault" players want and we're hoping for, but I guess this is at least a step in that direction.
