Just started using this sorc skill and if I my research is correct it stacks up to four times and you can trigger it correct? Is there not a counter like Merciless Resolve so you can see how many stacks you have? Or do you just have to count yourself?

There is not a number counter. There are daggers that appear in front of you - up to four, and the skill on your skill bar changes colors when ready to fire. I'd have no problem with a counter on the skill bar because seeing the floating daggers can sometimes be a little hard when there are lots of effects going on.

As @AcadianPaladin said, there are floating daggers above (in front?) of your character that shows how many stacks are ready (each dagger equals 1 stack) and the ability does change colours when ready.

Note that you can cast the ability early with less than max stacks (unlike merciless resolve), it will only deal instances of damage equal to the number of stacks available when cast though, not all 4.

A counter on the skill bar would be a nice QoL thing to add to the base game UI for sure though. iirc some of the UI addons such as bandits do have a counter that shows red circles for each stack that is active (has 4 circles for armaments and 5 circles for merciless resolve), so could be something to look into if you're on PC.

Thanks everyone, I could not see any floating daggers or anything like that. I recall trying to use it a long time ago and did see them then, I just thought it had changed. I did notice the skill does light up when I light or heavy attack and that I did more damage when it was maxed. Since it is a little similar to MR I was thinking a counter would indeed be a nice addition since almost every other skill has some sort of timer or counter now.
