🤔 Why not Rumble? (To be honest I didn't check either if an ESO account is already there)

It would actually be nice if ZeniMax focused more on their own forum, rather than spread the community over too many platforms (that said, I did just follow you on Bluesky and comment on a post!).

There are quite a few of us regularly on this forum who don't touch "social crap media" with a thousand foot pole. So yes, I would far prefer it if ZOS put most of the info here instead of on those sites.

I don't use social media. I did for awhile but I couldn't stand the attention seeking atmosphere and closed down the few accounts I had. In my opinion, official ESO content should be presented on the official ESO page and forums.

For what it's worth, we do our best to ensure that all really critical info is mirrored here as well as on our official social media channels. We aim to reach our players where the majority are, when outside of the game. (And consider preferences for social media versus forums versus Reddit, etc.)

Cool? The question at hand isn't if every individual player was active on social media. I don't really use social media much either. That doesn't matter. What does matter is important information being spread as far and wide as possible, which means posting important things to all platforms (except Twitter, because wow) is the best possible practice.

And it is presented on the ESO page and forums. Did you miss an announcement that was only available elsewhere?

Or are you inferring that it should only be presented on the official ESO page and forums?

The amount of people who are on the forums vs Reddit, Discord, X, BlueSky, Instagram, etc. are night and day.

I'm of the opposing view point. I want them to hit those other social media platforms to solicit more feedback than stay siloed in the forums. The barrier to entry for the forums is real and theres only a sliver of players on here vs those other platforms.

For people advocating for forums it's more about actually owning the game to participate in feedback loops and to have some equality as everyone is more on equal footing there unlike on socials where traction dependant on the following or some specific skills to bring yourself on a spotlight and draw attention.

Why would they need to? That blurb is in place simply to alert players that there are sources of communication and information outside of the official page and forums. It grows their social media presence, and with a bigger social media presence they draw more attention. Kinda the whole point of marketing. Anybodoy reading that blurb is already aware of the official page and forums.

Everything to do with ESO should appear on this official forum first.

Many of us will never visit a social media site, and for very good reason.

This is true, and for all the wrong reasons. I'll just leave it at that. I disagree that we should get any game related updates via social media, but I do agree that it's a problem that so few have access to this, the official forums. The problem is why so few have access to posting on the official forum even though everyone can read them at any time.

Every official announcement should be made on the website and official forums, but if they want to add in social media on top of that I'm fine with it. The problem tends not to be announcements, but comments from developers on say Reddit that don't get duplicated here.

I'm just grateful they don't require me to join a guild in order to see official announcement  !

This forum is not intuitive to join, and you have to 9wj the game already to join it.

Information being broadcast in more places is better than only posting it in one place.

I recognize that you were going for a certain level of snark in your reply. But if that were true, it'd serve only to drive the point home that there's a need to communicate outside of the official page/forums.
