Thoughts on Capture the Relic

    There is a self-heal on the vampire bar (L1 / 4th skill), but despite the tooltip, it never seems very effective. And it has a 3 second cast time.
    It's channeled damage / lifesteal / ult gen. Ironically spamming this is the best thing you can do with vamp clown, it's a bad self heal but better than nothing, more importantly the ult gen gives you the chance to one shot with Dragon Leap.

    It truly is the worst BG mode. It was bad in 4v4v4 too.

    Could not agree more. It eventually devolves into a deathmatch once one team gets a sizeable lead. I hate it when this one pops up.

    Appreciate the discussion y'all, definitely some good ideas here. I do hope they'll look at reworking Capture the Relic; I personally haven't minded the other modes so much, but I agree that the chaosball transformations aren't great either... it's definitely not a fun experience having your abilities changed in the middle of a battle and not knowing what they do, lol.

    Yes, I agree about abilities being changed. At least with Volendrung you get some powerful skills that make that experience fun, this is not. I’ve done a few of these BGs lately and three balls is just too much, why not one like before? The werewolf ball is okay health wise, but the vamp one seems to drain your health faster. The best tactic is to stay back at the spawn point and avoid combat.

    i feel like most of the issues with gamemodes, like Relic, essentially making spawncamping an incentive can be fixed by letting players spawn elsewhere on the map. if we're not bringing back the Storm Lords why not bring a bunch of the older maps back and use their spawn as a "reserve" in case it becomes evident that one team is repeatedly getting wiped? sitting on a cliff throwing ranged spammables doesn't seem very effective while we're in a 30k HP resistance cap heal spam meta.

    I believe that Capture the Relic *and* the flag games (Domination, Crazy King) worked a lot better with 3 teams than with 2.

    People complain about "avoiding pvp" being a strategy that worked in such modes... when 2 teams were busy playing Deathmatch with each other and the 3rd hits points (or relics) unopposed...

    Well, that is why it is your job to make sure they are NOT unopposed. If you won't do that, you're not playing the mode properly. Learn to play the mode.

    Also: Spawn points should be places where it is impossible to be attacked, and impossible to attack from.

    Spot on! I only recently started doing the new BGs, and spawn points need some work.

    Deathmatch I'm ok with just two teams, maybe even Chaosball (though I detest the new morph balls), but yeah, flag games and Relic just don't quite work with only two teams.
