Update 45: won't we see wayshrines on maps anymore... except one per zone ????

I never had a problem with either of those islands, Galen was at the top and High Isle below. I did have to click and zoom in on those zones to see the wayshrines but I think that was it.

As I remember it you play on console Katanagirl?
We use the controller triggers to navigate the map - press and hold one trigger to zoom in and press and hold the other to zoom out. This press and hold takes a couple of seconds to go from the big Tamriel map to a zone, then again into the zone. It's not just a single click like it is for PC and it's why Galen etc weren't such a big deal for controller users.

This new "QOL" just means more time spent pressing and holding triggers instead of travelling which doesn't sound like an improvement to me. Did they test this in controller mode at all?

You can just hold the trigger but I think a click works the same. Hard to say though, you don’t think about it, you just do it from muscle memory.

Don’t PC users have some list of zones they can click on too? I thought that was their preferred method.

I use the list method to get around and have never used the world map,but I can see why people don't like the change.

Until now I forgot there is a list of zones. I don't think I've ever used it.

I have an addon called World Map Wayshrines Controller which I have set to hide dungeons and trials (because I never use the map for them) and unowned houses, and that's always been enough for me. It reduced the clutter to the point where I could either find the wayshrine I wanted or click on the map to zoom into it.

I wonder if it'll be updated to give us the option to over-rule this change and keep all the wayshrines visible.

The list is fiddly to use compare to just clicking the map given there are so many zones. You have to remember the name of the place, which with High Isle and the expansion (I literally cannot remember the names of the other islands), for example, isn't always straightforward (inc having to remember which zones are and are not called "The"), and scroll down. It's just annoying.

Ah, I bet anything with “The” at the beginning is alphabetized under “T” like the sticker book zones in Collections. That is not grammatically correct, it bugs me.

This thread brings a question from my side: are you all using the Tamriel level of the map? What is(are) the advantage(s)?

Sorry if my question seems stupid, but personally, I never use it so I'm a bit surprised.

So this will be gone? Sounds a bit sad honestly, i hope it is a toggled feature because sometimes i just select the wayshrine that i want to go, without zoom.

@spartaxoxo Are you suggesting this or informing us? Because if I zoom in I still see only 1 wayhsrine per zone.. It's a very good suggestions tho!

This is not good, as someone who uses the big map to travel around; Now I have to first click on a zone and then find the wayshrine (through all the other icons in this zone). This will be a major headache/eyestrain caused by searching through all the icons in a zone.

I hope this gets changed or we get an option to show the wayshrines on the big map.

    I love the map changes.

I always opened a zone then found the wayshrine closest to where I was wanting to go, i.e. a survey or map location, and now it is so much easier to do so.

The only thing I missed was seeing all my houses on the Tamriel map, but just adding them to Favorites placed them back on again.

However I think it would be nice for those that liked how it was before if they had a toggle or a way to show wayshrines again if they choose to.

@SilverBride So you don't mind that if you need to TP somewhere that you now have to look through all the icons in a zone to find the wayshrine?

I would like to say again that what @spartaxoxo posted about zooming in the tamriel map showing more wayshrines does not work for me...

I'm on console so can't play it yet. But my understanding of it was that it was supposed to show more wayshrines once you zoomed into a specific area e.g. zoom into Summerset.

That is how I always did it. I never just picked a random wayshrine if I was doing surveys or maps etc., because I never knew which was closest to where I was going until I opened the map to see the location.

I don't like this change. Now takes more clicks to accomplish the same thing. With the exception of Galen, I used to just port to a specific house or wayshrine directly from the main Tamriel map.

I do totally get how it makes things more simple for newer players. And the map was very very cluttered before. But I hope they will consider giving us an option to add all houses, and wayshrines, back to the map in the future. Sure, default it to the simplified view, but give us some options!

@SilverBride Before update 45 you could conveniently see all the wayshrines in a zone on the big Tamriel map without all the other clutter/icons. This made teleporting around/looking for a wayshrine very convenient.

This convenience is now gone. If ZOS were to give us the option to view the wayshrines on the tamriel map OR implementing what @spartaxoxo thought was the case that would be the best solution!

@ZOS_Kevin please take a look at this thread, this seems to be a major oversight.

It looks like it does work that way according to ESO hub and pics I saw from other users. I can't login to PC so I can't verify. Is it possible an add-on is interfering with your map?

@spartaxoxo I tried disabling all addons + reloadui and asking friends to do the same. They are confirming there is only 1 wayshrine per zone even if zoomed in all the way...

Also ESOhub shows the zone-names when zoomed out all the way, this is not the case in-game. You have to zoom in a bit, for the names to become visible.

Before there were so many wayshrines that I could barely find a blank spot anywhere on the map to open the zone. I know some players like to use the wayshrine from the Tamriel map, but the only one I did that way is Vivec City wayshrine for doing my daily writs. If I was looking for anything else it was extra steps to choose a wayshrine, then look for where I needed to go, then use the wayshrine again to get there.

When I do open the zone map it looks exactly like it did before, with all the wayshrines and houses visible.

Oh I was misunderstanding what the issue was. Yes from the Tamriel map you only get one wayshrine per zone, and zooming in does tell the name of the zones. But you have to actually open the zone map for all the wayshrines to become visible, and then they are only visible in the zone map. I believe this is how it was intended.

Oh man, that's not good. Hopefully they change it so it works like it is explained on ESO Hub. You shouldn't have to physically go to the wrong wayshrine before seeing the others. :/

@spartaxoxo No, you can still see them on the zone map. But only after you have opened that specific zone's map (which will bring up a lot more other icons dolmens/delves/POI).

It will get very tiresome to have to look through all the icons on the zone map to find a wayshrine every time I want to TP somewhere specific...

I think current new version map is great improvement. :)

In the previous version, there're so much wayshrine icon
at the narrow zone. Then I couldn't choose proper location.

@AvalonRanger Yes, this was the exact issue ZOS tried to fix with this update. And unfortunately this is not a foolproof solution as I will explain once more below:

Update 45 made things much more inconvenient for those of us that liked to use the big Tamriel map to TP around. Now we are forced to click the zone and then find the wayshrine we want to travel to surrounded by all those icons/POI's grrr.

I think what @spartaxoxo and the esohub have cooked up is the best solution for everyone!
