PC NA Server Disconnecting 2/20

5:45PM EST on 2/20, PC NA crashing and booting across multiple zones. Ping spiking to 1000+, getting kicked from game and placed into login queue even from empty imperial city instances where there is nothing happening. Server appears to be dying again, or is experiencing an "attack" like what has happened the previous few weeks.

Yep, tried to re-log and had a 3 min queue. Booted after about 90s.

Had a different thing just happen. Was in a BG - lag became bad, was booted to the Character selection screen. Not to desktop, not to the "check your internet". Brought my character back in and I had the deserter penalty. Welcome to the PvP event. Queue, wait, join, crash - rinse and repeat.

I was getting severe packet loss, but then in back to back tracerts, I observed my route to 198.20.200.1 (ESO NA diagnostic IP) changed and the packet loss was significantly reduced.

So I'm gonna guess this is a ddos and they're applying mitigations.

I mean, I understand there can be malicious attacks... but this has been going on now for several weeks, so I'm wondering if anything is in place to actually catch the culprits? Or is this a smokescreen for something more troubling? I'm honestly not sure - so don't take this as conspiracy theory, but whatever it is, I'd definitely prefer transparency over cloak and dagger.

And Red_Nine, it might be just a game, but to some it's also a livelihood when there are those among us that rely on the game servers to stream and make a living...
