Cyrodiil PTS Roll Call – Who’s Joining the 2/18 Test @ 2pm EST/7pm GMT?

Alright, who’s showing up for the Cyrodiil PTS test on 2/18? I’m hyped to see how things shake out as we see who will be the King & Queens of Roe (let's be real it's going to be DC).

Now the real question… do I bring the DK, or dust off the NB healer and help keep peeps alive? Tough choices.

Hi everyone!

Next Tuesday, February 18 at 2pm EST/7pm GMT, we are planning to test some changes affecting performance in Cyrodiil and we'd like to invite you to hop in! Gather up your guildies and friends and plan to fight specifically at Castle Roebeck. We're looking for you to group up and zerg (yep, you read that right) while we gather some data on the backend. Some of our Devs also plan to join, so bring your best gear and have fun!

Given this is on the PTS and we'll be flipping some switches around on our end periodically, the experience may not always be smooth and should not be indicative of what to expect on the Live server.

Oooh, that seems like fun. Especially designating a specific point. Wonder if it's using the same class presets or not.

Edit: ah, not like the last test, but will need to leverage character creation templates if on NA.

I'm a little confused since I don't tend to do PTS things, the original post says it's EU so NA players need to use templates? How does that work?

This sounds like it was an on the fly kind of test so they didn't have time to do templates or anything.

To be honest - this is my first time getting on the PTS so I had to make a maxed out toon from scratch. Not sure if it's the same for everyone or just because it's my first time.

It's during EU prime time but NA can play too.

It's pretty fun tbh. We had a 2 hour fight during the last event at one of the keeps and I think there were 5 holes in the outter walls and 3 in the inner? Pushed everyone out.. repped everything back to 100% right as the second wave started. Dc ended up winning that one but yeah it's a ton of fun.

I'm not entirely sure either.

Do we still have "outdated" characters for the NA players or simply no account data at all? (Meaning we will be required to create a new character)

But regarding the player templates, when you create a character in the PTS there's a dropdown in the upper left where you can choose something like level 1 character, or CP3600 Character.

The CP3600 character spawns with more or less everything in the game stuffed in coffers in their inventory (as well as having all unlocks). Just need to dig out the sets, food, potions you want to use and allocate your skills.

I am not usually logged in that time of day but, unless something happens, I will be. Maybe not this account but the other one which I usually use for Cyrodii on PCEU and I have an AD character already outfitted for pvp.

From what I've seen... I think AD is going to have a great turn out. We need more DC and PE to show up!!!

I'm hoping to be there. As I understand it, the PTS is on its PC EU phase right now, and I think my PC NA main is a bit better in PvP than my PC EU main, but if circumstances permit then I'll be, probably dying over and over again.

You know deep down that ZOS needs to deal with the disconnection problems first or the data they get will not be accurate.

Unless the PTS is not being affected by these disconnections.

PTS operates on a 5-week cycle then is relatively untouched. During the first 2 weeks, the NA server is copied onto the PTS. At week 3, EU is copied over, overwriting NA. This copy remains in place until the next PTS update. So, EU players will have their characters in the same builds that the characters were in ~3 weeks ago while NA players will need to use a PTS template (blank character with boxes of gear, collectibles, etc. in inventory) and remake their builds. This will take ~45 minutes if you remember your build and know what you’re doing, so be sure to log on any time between now and the test to set up your character.

Edit: Actually, if this is Vengence mode you should be able to do minimal setup since you just need to slot in the Vengence mode skills (after going into Cyrodiil) and do nothing else with setting up.

I was on PTS earlier and this is Blackreach NOT Vengence - just FYI.

Go heads up about needing time to setup your build.

Considering Vegence is not on PTS... this has me wondering if it's somewhere related to that (considering Kevin posted it in the Lag thread).

Do I need to download or log in differently than I did with the last pts? Do I need to set up an EU account?

If you normally play exclusively on PC NA, you don't need to set up a separate account for PC EU, but when you log into the PTS it will be as though for the first time, so you won't have any characters to select from. You'll need to create a character, but you should be able to create one that's at the maximum character level. Then all you need to do is set it up how you want. If you need or want to buy anything from the Crown Store, such as special skill lines (Werewolf, Vampire), everything in the Crown Store will cost just 1 Crown.

whatever the turn out will be, it will be a fraction of what it could have been if it wasnt on a tuesday afternoon at 2pm. Or if it wasnt on the PTS. Or if it was pinned in the general chat on the forums. Or if it was put on the announcements on the launcher. Its just poor planning.

Plus im unconvinced this will show them anything worthwhile. They really need to do this on live in gray host at prime time.

Actually, for PC EU players, it might not be such a bad time of day, since 2 PM EST will equate to 7 PM UTC, so it will be early evening (probably just after dinner time) for the Brits, and even later for players further east-- most of Europe and all of Asia. And 2 PM EST on a Tuesday is a time and day when the devs will be in the office at work, so it's good timing for them.

It does put many if not most PC NA players at a disadvantage, but hopefully between the British Isles, Europe, Asia, and any PC NA players who are free to jump on in midday, there will be enough people for the testing to be a success.

You know, I wonder if all megaservers are hit equally frequently by DDoS attacks, or if perhaps the EU servers get hit more often. Though can't say I'm too knowledgeable about the topic.

No way to tell but I'd assume its NA followed by the rest. Just based on posts on the forums it seems like NA alot but then you have days like the other day where it seemed to be all of them.

Thanks, I have one more question. Is there an addon that will "save" my character settings and configuration for making a new character to copy stuff over? Even if it's not everything, to cut down on set up time?

Not really a save but add-ons like superstar or overview can give you a character sheet that you could screen cap.

This is the way.

As someone who has never been on PTS before getting a toon setup was..... difficult.

I thought I could just go to a transmutation station and make the gear I wanted... nope.

Going through the coffers to do it just takes time so having a Superstar to reference cut down on it. I'd say it took about an hour and a half for me to get my toon up (again, with no experience on pts or how the coffers work).
