Suggestion for New Battlegrounds Mode - Gladiator

Soul Shriven
  • 16 players, 3 minute 1v1 matches (no draws, tie-breakers decided by best overall combat mechanics - DMG, Healing, Blocking, Dodging, etc.), 4 rounds with 1-2 minute breaks between rounds, 1 ultimate victor.
  • Include a preliminary round involving 32 players who compete in a 5-10 minute free for all to determine which 16 will advance to the main event.
  • Players eliminated can choose to either leave immediately or stay and watch up until the main event.
  • A ranking system to allow for top performers to queue up exclusively against other top ranked gladiators.

Discuss.

1v1s is the most unbalanced gameplay there is in the whole game. So I’d say no. I think a way to enter the bgs as kind of wargames to then organise tournaments with guilds would be amazing tho. Being able to tag ppl to put them in a team. (Or 1v1s of course) And ppl could watch from the sides. But something like that has been asked since morrowind…

Tie breaking from stats can’t work cause it favors sorcs and dks a lot. Some classes (and even just playstyles) just need to land one burst on you and the pressure from dots rolling shouldn’t count in my opinion. A nb could win against a dk even doing half his damage over the whole fight. Wouldn’t be fair if they can’t kill each other that the dk just wins cause pressure

A 1v1 format where in order to enter you need to compete in a 32 people FFA fight before ?

Yeah sounds the kind of thing ZoS could do. No its not a compliment.

yes to any kind of support for finding duels. the ffa part seems unnecessary.
battle net has had essentially what u describe (automated tournaments) for decades.
