As I wrote in a similar thread some time ago - there‘s a lot of stuff to be done during server or patch maintenance. Just the software patches of a tiny, inconsequential QA system (not at Zeni) with wee databases took me roughly 4 hours, from archiving certain data to removing certain data and settings to flushing caches to unpacking and installing the actually patch to informing stakeholders… if everything went well. Funnily enough patch day was Monday, too. Every Monday.strebor2095 wrote: »
I moreso want to know the standard downtime is 5 hours. What exactly happens? Why does a server power cycle take 5 hours? Do they turn them off one at a time, wait til they're all off, then turn them on one at a time?
I don't think it's wrong to ask for an explanation. I don't expect them to ever give us a satisfactory one though.
