crab crane slaughterfish in Wrothgar bugged?

Anyone know if this fish is bugged or not? It's been a very long time since I caught this fish, so maybe I can't catch it again after AWA's, but the person I was showing how to catch it wasn't catching it either. When I've caught it before it was the first or second cast after talking to the orc lady. Or maybe ZOS updated things and now it's not a gimme catch after talking to the lady or something?

So, has anyone caught this fist during the event? Or does anyone know if this fish is bugged or anything of that nature?

I haven't caught that one for several years. When I did catch it, it was definitely "dusk", and a couple of casts (as you said) after talking to the orc nearby.

If I have time in the next couple of days, I'll see what I can catch.... if anything....

It was the last fish needed for that zone on my second account (the zone was fished prior to the event). It is not curated unless there are other factors affecting availability for curation. I received multiple green fish before catching the purple one on my third fishing hole. I do not recall what time of day it might have been in the game.

I did not talk to any NPCs as I was not aware that any might have a conversation about it.

I got it right away with just sharp. I did talk to the lady nearby the hole though.

It was the last fish I needed after having caught all the other trophy fish. Probably not relevant but worth noting, I suppose.

I caught it today and it was around midday. I was curious when I saw some guildmates discussing whether it was only caught at night, so thought I would test it for myself.

I spoke to the NPC, stepped over to the shore, and midway through the second fishing hole I caught it. Granted I hadn't fished in Wrothgar since I moved to the PSNA server, and I wound up catching all three saltwater fish before landing the Crab Crane. But Sharp's trinket, Arteum Pickled Fish, and Angler's Instinct together made short work of it.

[edit] I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I wasn't alone as there was another player sharing the holes, so there was that bonus as well.

Two guildmates have caught it during the event. Both said you have to fish there (wherever "there" is in Wrothgar) during in-game night.

Disclaimer: I have not tried for this fish yet; I am just relaying the anecdotal experience of two guildmates who linked the fish in guild chat and it started a conversation among others of "what is that/how did you get that?".

I got it on my first cast, but the hole disappeared. Moved to a hole to the left and immediately got it again, first cast, then left.

As noted in my reply a few post up.. I caught it yesterday, and it was midday game time.

Crab-slaughter-crane... Caught in the second or third Saltwater hole near Morkul Stronghold during midnight. I was fishing with my wife, together with Sharp and the food was Artaeum Picked Fish Bowl and with CP for fishing, of course. So it was for a few minutes. There is NPC fisher Atorag who gives you some clue for that.

I caught it solo (pre-Sharp, pre-CP 2.0, and pre-Artaeum fish food), so neither the “at night” nor “with friends” part of the NPC’s advice should actually be necessary. Whether it helps to fish at night I have not seen enough data to know either way, but it’s not required. I would imagine that fishing with others helps, since that’s true for all other trophy fish, but it also isn’t required.

I had a problem catching it a few years ago. Anyway, it was just bad luck. The fish isn't bugged, it just takes patience. As with most rnd loot in this game. So I just wrote how we caught it in a few minutes fishing in Wrothgar.
Of course, nothing is needed and you can fish alone.
You just have to be patient and lucky...

As far as I've been able to work-out, you can only catch it once per account ever since AWA was implemented.

It was character-locked back when I got it. Which made me sad. I wanted to save it for sentimental value, being the only purple fish in the game, but I lost it when I got rid of that character.
I was hoping I'd be able to catch it again on another character, but that has never happened despite lots of trying, so I'm assuming that achievement is afflicted by AWA.

Not bugged. I caught this fish today after about 15 minutes in the vicinity of the NPC, Atorag.

For me it was:

1. Broad daylight
2. Sharp was with me
3. Used Hissmir Fish-Eye Rye
4. Worms for bait

What was funny is that I had Aderene with me for most of the time and I was catching the blue fish. Go figure.
