I think they're moving the nicer things that used to be in the login rewards into the golden pursuits system now, at least that's where it seems like they're going.

    This.
We had some nice things in daily rewards for some time, thanks to the anniversary. Now the dailies are “back to normal”-ish, and to prevent us to be disappointed they created the golden pursuits and moved those nice things to it. At least that’s how I see it and I think it’s a smart move: we still have access to those things but we have to play to get them now.

    ^^^^--- This.

Everybody got a bit spoiled over the past year due to the anniversary promos in the daily login rewards, and have forgotten that this month is actually rather normal. The anniversary login giveaways while great, are not the norm.

Furniture in Daily Rewards has become normal yes, however it started during the 10 year anniversary celebration and it is still ongoing until June (10 year anniversary for ESO on PS and Xbox).

I find the rewards generally useful. I don't have to bother with alchemy because I mostly use tripots. The food is good enough for most content, so I just use it. And I'll switch to my nice food for hard content. Currency is always useful to everyone. I use the research scrolls and mount riding lessons on alts.

What's wrong with favoring new players, who are probably the ones who benefit the most from these daily rewards anyway? It's not like veterans can't use the free goodies: I have little patience for remembering to train mounts on alts and the riding lessons got my below-50 arcanist to 60/60/60 in almost no time.

My thinking is that one can surmise that new, or relatively new, players might make up the bulk of the people playing the game.

That makes sense. It's possible the devs are trying to retain these new players by making their life a bit easier with the daily rewards. The game has gotten huge after 10 years and it's more complex than in 2014, so it can be a bit daunting for new people.

I would add bags of random curated drops in the calendar, and master writs (with common/cheap motifs, to be useful for new players too).

I don't mind the potions, but some variation with the mentioned above would be nice. Furnishings are great as long as they aren't bound.

I understand the need to help those who are just starting to play ESO, however this should not happen at the expense of veterans. I think that a choice between two items should be introduced, regarding daily rewards. This way everyone could choose the one that best suits them.

I have SO many things I would like to reply with but they would all get me mod-actioned... so I we're going to pretend I did and leave it at that. :D

As a veteran player playing since 2014 I love daily rewards, tri pots are a must for most of my builds, experience scrolls are great for new characters and so are the mount scrolls, any kind of furniture can be needed for a future house, all kinds of currency or collectibles are welcome as well even if I don't plan on using then right now.

Because it takes time and resources away from the developers to make more meaningful changes elsewhere.

And sure, they can add an option, but then there will still be others who aren't getting something they can use. So why can't they get options too?!

Then someone else will look at all the options and say "WHY DO I HAVE TO CHOOSE???!! I WANT THEM ALL!! ZOS PLS"

Plus this logic can be applied to every aspect of the game. "I have x dungeon/trial/arena items curated, pls give me rewards I can use!!"

At some point a player actually has to enjoy playing the game on the basis of pure gameplay and not be entirely incentivized by effortless rewards that are ultimately ungratifying anyway.

If you don't like the rewards, you can just delete them after claiming, lol. I haven't had the need for research scrolls since 2018 (were they even a thing back then?) so I always just yeet them, it's trash for me but treasure for someone else. I'm happy about the furnishings tho, it's been nice they're giving those away especially because they aren't bound, so people who don't need them can give them away or sell them.

In this case, enough with the patch notes or updates, QoL improvements, let's leave the game as it is and not change anything anymore, but no one should say anything or complain about anything, or make other proposals, in fact, let's also eliminate the forum since it is completely useless, because if these are the answers that are given to those who make proposals to improve the game then we might as well not discuss anything anymore.

I guess right now someone behind the scenes has to pick what will be on the calendar each month, and if we had two options that would be twice as much work.

You could apply the same argument to Endeavors and Golden Pursuits but they are updated more often. So I don’t know if that is valid or not. These two take more work but they return higher rewards, I guess.

I suspect that even if they added a choice to the daily rewards there will still be complaints, though. Not everyone is going to be happy no matter what you do.

    Yes.

I should point out that you are responding to someone who had more than 300 unopened Crown Crates at one time.

I much prefer to know what I am getting. As far as I am concerned, they could streamline things up by just giving out a few Crown Gems instead of the free boxes. I'd love that. Less time in the loot box UI means more time doing something more fun. You know, like root canals and standing in line at the DMV.

We have talked about this internally before. Without getting into too many details, unfortunately it's not as simple as adding an additional option to the daily login screen. We wish it was, but there is tech work that would be needed to support multiple options. That is something we can pass along to the team. Just wanted to clear up that it isn't about doubling the work.

I'm glad to hear this, thank you Kevin! Last time I brought this up years ago, we got some nice additions and less soul gems. I'm mostly happy now but these rewards are admittedly a bit alt/new player heavy. So, there's still room to improve to make it nicer for a broader cross section of the playerbase.

Just to be clear I am fine with what we have. There is a broad range of items to collect so it appeals to everyone, though not every single day. It would technically be more than double the work but I was simplifying things a bit. I guess you are saying that is not the reason for not doing it, though, if I understand correctly.

P.S. - The other point is how much work should go into an activity that only requires a couple of button clicks? Endeavors and Golden Pursuits are better rewards and require more work from us so more work on the dev’s part is justified. I’ve seen plenty of people say all they do is log in and collect these and then log out..

To be honest, rather than choosing between two items that will probably be both of not interest to me, I would very much prefer a button allowing to skip/reject the reward of the day, sparing me the accept-destroy usual follow-up. That's no big effort, but I'm very lazy... o:)

Yeah, because that is not what we are going to receive. It’s going to be food, potions, and tattoos.

Then why do I often see people celebrating the receiving of a legendary mount or a pet from Crown crates?

And even if you don't get any mounts, food, potions and tattoos will have a better value than a few furnishings that worth 500-2.000 gold. And you can also exchange them for crown gems and buy valuable items with them.

As a grizzled eso veteran the login rewards don’t hurt me at all. They’re a free bonus to use as I want and destroy the rest. It’s not that serious.

I do wish there were more crown tripots though. I guzzle those like water in pvp.
