How to stop the blue smoke memento noise?

This sounds super annoying, so I getcha. I also wish there was a way to mute sounds coming from other players, I've seen griefers who spam a macro full of screaming and then they do that in a crowded area...

What's the thing that causes the constant wonky trumpet sound? Someone had that on in Mournhold the other day, and the continual repetition was painful. Unfortunately, whoever it was seemed to be picking the exact same spots for dailies, as they effectively followed me for about 5 minutes.

We REALLY need to be able to mute other-player sound effects!

This problem is getting completely out of hand on PC EU server. Even in the late hours of the morning, we can't use a single city in the game without being permanently disturbed by many players forcing that unbearable humming noise on other players headphones.

Can someone tell me exactly which quest causes that humming noise so that this bug can be reported in better detail?

    Example here: https://jumpshare.com/v/GNXmM9PcJZkfmriXNTlr

To the best of my knowledge, the quest itself has already been fixed (I tried to replicate the bug on my Necromancer months ago, because it would have suited him nicely, but was unable to replicate the bug via the usual means). Anyone still using the quest effect today probably has been doing so for years and activated it long before the fix, meaning ZOS would likely have to debug on an individual character by character basis. At least you can rest easy knowing that new players can’t use the bug.

I really don't believe this bug has actually been fixed. On the EU PC server the number of players exploiting this bug continues to increase significantly. Where did you get this information? And what's the quest name after all? So I can try to research and report the situation.

It's doubtful with all the noises and bangs they are deliberately adding with mounts, mementos, skins, recalls, arms packs etc.

They don't seem to care much about those things despite people's complaints. Nor all the flashes of lights.

The noise that always drove me nuts that everyone had was some sort of watchling pet that makes this awful clicking-gurgle sound. Whenever folks had it around me, rather than going into my settings to specifically turn down volume, I always just spammed all my AOE abilities around me to wash it out with white noise while I did my crafting. It was a faster bandaid than adjusting volume. Plus making all of my own noise too allowed me to participate in their parade.

Like I said, I tried replicating it myself a few months ago, and was unable to do so via the usual means. I was able to trigger the bug on other characters years ago with no issues. Perhaps the bug has been inadvertently reintroduced after a recent patch (wouldn't be the first time that's happened in this game). The likelier explanation is that you're hypersensitive to it and noticing it more than you did previously. It was a very popular bug back in the day, as a lot of us like the way it looks (and even like the way it sounds!), and there may be more older players returning to ESO after a break. I can't check the quest out again to be sure if the bug HAS accidentally been reintroduced, as I uninstalled ESO back in October due to the atrocious ongoing lag spikes and disconnects. I won't identify the exact quest itself, as I don't want to be accused of anything like showing others how to "exploit" the game.

Which is very sad for "AA" game — I don't consider ESO an AAA game any more. Wish I could hide everyone's but me and those of my groups' visual effects, so I could play in peace without having to dodge from flashbang / stun grenades whenever I go or stay. :(

It's not that easy. For example, if you are doing the writs in any city, and there just one player exploiting this bug of the blue smoke, there isn't one single place where you aren't forced to listen to that humming noise. The problem with this bugged thing is that you can receive its noise even from faraway places.

The problem with this annoying noise source not only persists but has been increasing, and we still don't have a solution for this supposed bug.

It's clear that players who exploit this bug are enjoying it, and it's ok, but its sound effect shouldn't be forced on all other players.

Please, if there's no solution to fix the quest causing this bug, at least provide us an option to mute this specific noise without having to disable all sound effects.

A good solution, in my opinion, would be to make the noise caused by that bugged quest audible only to the player with it activated on their own character, without forcing it on anyone else.

Please, consider this solution. It would be very helpful.

Oh hi! That's me, thank you for filming my beautiful behind :D;)

I've had it on for forever, and yes if I boost my volume up to high heavens I hear a quiet little hum, but otherwise even tho I play this character exclusively for up to hours a day, I never hear it. Ever. And I use quality headphones.

Also by this logic why not remove all emotes, mounts, momentos, etc, because sure as hell whenever I do my writs or just be in a city someone is spamming something. If you stand next to a wayshrine for more than 5 seconds there are at least 20 people getting on mounts making all different sort of noise, people playing instruments, using screaming emote, etc, I really do not believe this thing alone is such a huge issue. But each to their own I suppose. If you are bothered by other people's noises, why play an MMORPG? I'm not trying to pick a fight, I am genuinely curious why you are pinpointing noise issue to this one specific thing.

PS: Forgot to add how I got it: I crashed during the quest, and then it bugged out (like how usually my eso experiences go), I just never bothered to fix it because I came to like it.

    Hi!

I'm not sure what you consider "quality headphones". I've been using mostly Bose QC 35 and 45, because I suffer from hyperacusis and those are the most comfortable I've tested for my needs. But I also tried a couple of Sony and Sennheiser old headphones, but all mid range. I never tested the game with high end studio headphones because I can afford it and it shouldn't be needed for a game.

Maybe the noise isn't that loud for the player exploit the bug. But at my end it's really loud, and the only way to mute it is by disabling all sound effects.

Anyway, I think you didn't understand my request. I'm just asking for a way to mute it at my end (maybe an addon, I don't know), and not at yours. So, you'd be able to continue having fun exploit that noisy bug, but the other players wouldn't be forced to deal with that annoying humming noise. It wouldn't change anything for you.

And answering your question... yes, I also have issues with other sound effects: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/679546/suggestion-disable-the-sound-of-other-players-recalling-actions

...but this case is completely different. This one is supposed to be a bug. So, I was expecting to be much easier to fix.

That's understandable, I'm not quite sure, but it's possible the addon "hidegroup" (hidegroup necro if you play necro) might help you out then, because (not sure, since I can't hear the hum on my or any other character who had it, so 50/50 if I just can't hear it or it does hide it along with the model) it should mute other character sounds as well somewhat, tho not everything.

Although for bug fixes, one of the main reason I didn't even bother doing anything with this one (other than I find it fitting for my character) is because whatever bug I sent feedback for and or asked for help to be solved lead to nowhere. Best example I can give from memory is something I'm still quite mad about to this day, the character you filmed is my main/completionist character and 11 quest progressing lorebooks are missing from Gold Road, despite me doing the quests and them being FULLY done, I've wrote several tickets to support and best they could do is to tell me to get those books on another character......books which are not account wide.....right. From that point onward I just let stuff go fully. As they say, it is what it is. Also just look at how they treat the necro bug right now, 3 months 0 change and it's making the class unplayable :D So yeah, hope you find your solution regardless.
