Treasure maps and surveys to become "Unidentified".

Conceptual Setup

Before:
  • Alchemist Survey: Alik'r
  • Alchemist Survey: Auridon
  • Treasure Map: Apocrypha
  • Treasure Map: Auridon

After:
  • Unidentified Alch/BL/JW Survey
When clicked: Reveals the specific zone (e.g., Alik'r, Auridon, etc.)
  • Unidentified Treasure Map
When clicked: Reveals the specific zone (e.g., Apocrypha, Auridon, etc.)

How It Works

Inventory Display:
  • You'll only see "Unidentified Alch/BL/JW Survey" and "Unidentified Treasure Map" in your inventory.

Revealing the Zone:
  • When you click on an "Unidentified Alch/BL/JW Survey," a popup or interface will show you the specific zone it belongs to.
  • The same process applies to the "Unidentified Treasure Map."

This approach keeps your inventory organized and less cluttered, similar to how unidentified gear works in Guild Wars 2.
If implemented in-game, this could simplify managing your items significantly, instead of ending up with thousands of different items taking up space.

how would that work with stacking? say you have 10 unidentified maps

you click one and now it becomes a "auridon treasure map", now you have 1 auridon map and 9 unidentified maps

or would those unidentified maps even stack at all if you have to click into them to see where they go?

either way it sounds like a lot of extra steps for little value

i prefer seeing at a glance what the map is instead of having to click into it

it would be overall better just to have maps as non unique items that stacked similar to surveys

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

    Counter Concept:

    Cartographer NPC and/or Cartography Workbench:
    • You can bring your old stockpiled maps here to combine to add them to your zone map untill collected, this consumes the map and requires paper.
    • Paper is a very plentiful resource, it can be ripped out of books causing them to despwan or be tapped out for a bit and also found on humanoids and in bookshelves.
    • Cartography can also be used to piece together map fragments along with paper to unlock new treasure maps, surveys and antiquities.

I would love a way to make them consumables so they can disappear from my inventory.

Your title makes it sound like this is something that will definitely be implemented. It might be helpful to change it slightly to reflect that it is a suggestion instead so players like me aren’t alarmed when we read the title.
