Best trial for the Golden Pursuit?

Probably been asked but didn’t see a current recent thread, so…

If I want to try doing a trial for the Golden Pursuit, what would be the best one to queue for? More concerned about it not being too difficult rather than how long it is.

I'd say normal Cloudrest. Done it earlier tonight for the Golden Pursuit and managed to get a group on the Group Finder easily and have it all completed within 10 minutes. First time doing a trial as well.

Did you do Normal or Vet?

I did normal HoF because you also get the lead from Gold Road (for one of the antiquities that you need to get the achievement to get the mount).

This was a pretty casual guild run in a social guild with several newer players and/or those doing their first trial... was quick and easier than expected, but we did have a lead/tank and a few others in the group who were much more experienced.

I'm sure there are easier ones if you're just trying to get the pursuit done as quickly as possible, but it felt nice to also get the lead and kill two birds with one stone.

I actually did that when I saw a guild finder looking for a tank. I found out my internet needed an upgrade (and also I needed to update my ps4 version to ps5. Got myself a CAT-8 cable and now INTERNET WORKS GREAT NOW!) so had lots of dcs and lag but still was able to do my job.....mostly (had one fake tank I think). Got the lead myself so I was happy.

Personally though if you just want a really quick one just do Atherian Archive. Literally one of the easiest to do even on vet. On normal I was able to run it with a group of 12 about 3 to 4 times in an hour or so when we were just gear farming (before the sticker book.....I love the sticker book).

all normal crags are really easy, I would avoid AA perhaps since you do need all 12 players to stand on pads. I personally do nCR+2/3 or nAS+0/1/2. Those don't have trash and are really easy on normal. You probably could get by without a tank and you don't even need portal dps if you have enough dps.

AA can turn into a real pain because of that - nCR or nAS (with or without side bosses) is by far the quickest way

done on the first day 2/3rd of our group were seasoned veterans - It was superquick

To do with a random group, my easiest runs were surprisingly normal Dreadsail Reef. It helps to watch a guide to know the basic mechanics, but I did it daily during the High Isle event and found it was just a fun trial and had no real difficulty even on my first runs.

I'd honestly just look at what gear you'd like to acquire most, then see if there's a guide for that trial. Learn the basic mechanics from that and then have a go. I think I've done all but one trial now on normal level and they're all far far easier than I expected.

I was really nervous about doing trials until I got dragged into one without warning and realised it was entirely within my capability to do at normal level.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions and comments!

My biggest worry is that my character is, shall we say, of average to subaverage build. I actually did complete normal Dread Sails Reef with fellow guild members about a year ago, so I know I can complete a trial with the right group, but I'm not in that guild anymore.

I see in the UESP Wiki that Asylum Sanctorium is a "mini trial," which made me think that it might be a good one to try. Does anyone have any comments, yea or nay, about that one?

nAS is normal asylum sanctorium and nCR is normal cloudrest. As mentioned both have no trash and are mini trials. Plus how many mini boss mechs you can handle.

Normal you can get by with one tank, vet you want two to three on the other hand.

I’ve only done that one once, and long ago so I don’t remember.

I don’t know about nCR, aren’t there portals on normal? Those can cause wipes for newbies. NDSR can be rough with a pug too, if people aren’t knowledgeable about mechs or just try to ignore them and burn through. I had a group do the twins and not use domes and it was painful. I am not used to using them because the healers usually grab them, and didn’t want to grab the wrong one and wipe the group. They ignored adds and burned the bosses fast so we had everything out at once during the bash phase.

Normal Atherian Archive. 1 tank, 1 healer, 10 DPS, tank and spank easy trial. Just burn burn burn. Can get it done in 15 minutes.

I ended using Group Finder to join a group that was already partway through nDSR. I picked that one because it already had 11 people in the group, so there was no wait for me. I kept dying and having to be revived but we got through it.

Glad it worked out! I think Dreadsail Reef is one of the harder trials on normal. Once you learn the mechanics, I expect you would die less often there. I enjoy doing veteran trials weekly with guilds.

I still need to do a trial on PC NA tonight, and my main on that server is a little bit better than my main on PC EU.

On PC EU, my deaths were from falling or getting knocked off of things, and at the final boss I kept getting drawn toward the boss and getting killed.

Going to second normal Cloudrest or Asylum Sanctorum, or normal Aetherium Archive or Hel Ra Citadel if you have more time. Don’t do vet right off the bat if you’re not used to running Trials in general or you haven’t run a particular Trial before.

I did nCR on PC NA, mainly because there was already a group of 8 in Group Finder. It filled up quickly after I joined, so there was less than a minute of waiting. The trial went pretty quickly, much quicker than I'd expected, and I didn't die, so it went a lit better than nDSR had on PC EU. So now I won't feel so reluctant to queue for trials in the future! :)

I take a stack of soul gems with me whenever I do a veteran trial. I figure it is a good day if I come back with a stack, or a few extra since I also take empty soul gems and have the passive unlocked for 10% chance to fill a soul gem. Gear runs usually go smoothly, but anything can happen in an expo with folks that have not done that trial before.

Normal cloudrest as many have mentioned is extremely joinable, stay on dps and follow commands and you’ll be good to go!

and the gear that drops is decent for some builds.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
