Arc DPS gear advice- where to begin?

Hello, I have been away from the game for a bit, I have bit to get caught up on, and decided to make an arc dps. I do not have coral riptide or Ansuuls… yet.

I just got my arc to 50, I have 2k+ cp and general awareness… which would be better to start with?

Slimecraw, Front bar vate daggers, deadly body, pillar of nirn backbar

OR

Slimecraw, velothi, Orders wrath front bar, deadly body, vma fire staff back?

Thank you in advance! I plan to eventually run perfected ansuuls body, deadly front, vma back, slimecraw, velothi.

Well, if you plan to use Velothi, Slimecraw and Deadly eventually, why switch?
Use Order's Wrath instead of Ansuul's and switch after you have enough pieces.

Only thing I would like to ask: Why VMA Inferno Staff?
If you have Blackrose dual wield, you can use Cloack for a whooping 30s backbar DoT. That aligns nicely with scholarship and the armor buff. That would let you stay on the frontbar longer and beam more often.

Great questions! Transmute crystals and gold mats re not a concern, I thought deadly both bars with orders front would be stronger, and I can move stuff/ remake later after getting Ansuuls.

I like the black rose idea (I do have them) but thought I’d try vma fire as I was going to try using the fire banner skill, but less back bar is optimal

I’d go deadly x pillar x velothi x vma fire. I’ve seen some decent parses with pillar. Some people play around with double daggers but most parses I see do daggers/ma fire, including myself. You use elemental blockade instead of explosive wall anyways.

I have been playing around with this combo for mostly overland pve content up to normal trials.

Spattering Disjunction (could be swapped out for orders wrath)
Kvatch gladiator
Slimecraw
Oakensoul

At least until I can figure out a better combo when I have the transmuted.

Depending on the content I play its either

Pillar of Nirn (5 armor so that its front and back) Deadly front, VMA back with Velothi & Slimclaw

For Vet dungeons and normal trials I swap Velothi for Oakensoul, everything dies so fast that switching to the backbar actually reduces my overall dps.

For organised team content I swap Deadly for Coral, but if its not a well organised raid then deadly out performs coral for me.

Completely agree with this, assuming you are running a stamina Arc.

@Zodiarkslayer has a solid suggestion, but it is content-dependent. Cloak's range is 5 meters. Some bosses will not be inside that range for Cloak to be effective for damage.

I rarely get to play DPS, but I've been running Velothi + Deadly strike + Aegis Caller, which is a mini Relequens so long as the boss stays still. You still have to light attack on occasion to proc Aegis Caller, but it definitely melts things.
