So, we're still getting a new trial right?

Title pretty much says it all, just wondering since for many players trials are the only thing keeping us interested.

Thanks,

I believe we will get it but it might be a mini trial some says. No confirmation or anything yet though as far as i know.

It's possible they could go the route of ye old: "[Insert Dungeon Name] II"
Instead of making new zones, making new stories inside of existing instances.

Another Mini trial would be good. I like Cloudrest and Asylum Sanctorium and the challenge that comes from adding the mini-bosses to the main fight so yeah, happy with that as long as it's still 12-man (or more) content with interesting mechs.

Well they just threw casual players under the bus, so nothing is sacred really. Who knows.

Also read about the mini trial but the question also when (if even) as there's no apparent schedule

Lol Asylum came in q4 in 2017. This was the same year HOF released. Talk about moving the goal posts. We got two trials that year now here we are getting 2 dungeons a year and wondering if we will at least get a mini trial

The letter mentions that there will be new dungeons, but no mention of trials. I'd really like ZOS to keep the practice of having a new trial every year, even a mini trial is something to be excited about!

My theory that instead of calling it a trial, it will be called something like challenge zone or something and fall under the section where he talked about bringing back Craig Horne like experiences, though not as large a scope. I’m guessing it will be like a trial yet not so linear as a trial and more like a small open world experience.

That would be terrible for endgame. Goaled/scored/instanced content is what we are looking for.

How about bringing more rewards to trials to incentivize people to play the trial content who normally wouldnt. Groupfinder was a good start. Now what about some kind of persistent ladder or title 'flair' based off of your highest score.

There's plenty that can be done, if a trial isnt released this year you can expect to kill of what remains of the endgame community.

Yup. And yet we didn't get a shred of actual info about what will be released.

Something that got me into trials and dungeons were the rewards, I wanted the Dro-M'Athra skin and the Worm Wizard personality. Now you get body markings that are hidden under your armor for trials and absolutely nothing for dungeon challengers...

Well, they didn’t say that they were abandoning trials. Trials don't have to be tied to chapters, so I think we'll just get new trials in existing locations.

    Let's hope so.
I wouldn't mind if they disconnect trials from other pieces and released them like dungeons.
Tbh for the last three years I was paying full chapter price mostly to play the new trials. Far from perfect.

In the same way some people consider Chapters too formulaic, I feel the same about trials.

In my 2nd eso life, I've enjoyed learning and playing trials, but I'd like to see more variety in the pve "end game"

The concept of an open world "adventure zone" with trial level encounters is appealing to me, as a rough idea.

I'd also like to see some lower effort [to produce] end game PVE content because there isn't enough to do. I don't need top tier writing and voice actors. That's all fluff to me anyway.

I wonder if they could make something reminiscent of Cyrodiil, but PVE. Like a massive trial campaign.

Maybe it could at least be worth trying as one of their mentioned experiments.

Sounds like we won't know until April, since we're not getting a "yearly preview" type of stream in January this year, and April is when we learn more about the bigger update (zone?) in summer.

For many players, consistent story updates are the only think keeping us interested, and yet...

In other words, there's no way of knowing yet.

The problem is that it’s not a trial. Trial people want trials, though it could be cool to play around more with different kinds of trials (like cloudrest/asylum sanctorium being side bosses and an end boss, AA and DSR splitting up the group, LC with the orb running) it’s important to keep adding trial content that are actually trials. Its like when people told me to be happy I’m getting dungeon content in Necrom because Nymics are 4 people. It’s not a dungeon and I don’t care about Nymics.

While I'm far from being bored with trials (I still have few triples to do and some that I would like to do on a different role) I wouldn't mind some variety.

Although I'm not sure whether getting a truly trial level encounters in overland would be possible. Stricktly instanced content allows for producing more dense and complex fights.

If what they talk about for those endgame zones end up being tanked up world bossess, these fights might not be interesting enough mechanically for groups, especially organized ones.

Worse case scenario we get West weald style fights, with spongy main boss and invulnerability phases during which all you get to do is killing some smaller sponges.
If that is what we're getting instead of trials it will be a huge slap in the face.

    Edit to add a thought:
If Craglorn is the benchmark of a danger zone, it seems like the new zones would be more of a story content for experienced players (which Iam all in for) than something that could replace an actual endgame.
