Front Bar and Back Bar sets..help

ok, this is very embarrassing.

I am asking what front bar and back bar sets are.

Usually I run 2x5pc sets that are always "on"
For example, Deadland Demolisher (bash) and Shattered Fate (5pc to get the pen)
So how does Front bar and back bar affect me?
What am I missing out on...

Yeah, after this long, I am asking...

That generally means your weapons are each from a different set, and you have only 3 armor/jewelry pieces that match each set. So you might have a Deadlands Demolisher sword & board on your front bar that you use for bashing people, and have a weapon of a different set on your back bar that would buff whatever skills you have on that bar. You wouldn't get the Deadlands Demolisher 5-piece bonus on your back bar because you'd be missing the two "pieces" from your front bar weapon.

The benefit is that it frees up two body/jewelry slots for other stuff that might be more valuable. You can also include arena/trial weapons that are their own 2-piece "set" and still use a monster set for head/shoulders. The downside is that you have to strategize which sets will still work when the bonus is only active on one bar. Like your Shattered Fate set probably wouldn't work as a "back bar" set because you want the benefit of the penetration when you're actively attacking things.

Think of things that have a specific utility on front or back bar or things that can carry over to the other bar. A good example is wretched vitality. You proc major and minor buffs on your backbar, then, when you flip to the front bar, wretched is still active for a period of time. Other sets like this are essence thief, clever alchemist, rallying cry, among others. Then front bar something like burning spellweave or deadlands or whatever to do damage.

Things with flat damage modifiers don't carry over so they are less useful in this set up. They include anything woth flat bonuses for wearing the five piece.

Also, keep in mind, you typically lose the four piece as well when not on the bar with the fifth piece.

So, the basis of "Front Bar" and "Back Bar" sets is that overall, there are 12 item slots available.

7 armour, 3 jewellery and 2 weapons (With 2h weapons counting as 2 pieces for any set bonus)

Swapping bar, means swapping weapons. Which allows you to swap 2 set pieces each time. This can allow you to be more flexible with gear.

The simplest would be using something like Arena weapon sets which is entirely enclosed within the weapons and would allow you to switch sets to buff skills for each set.

But you have other options. For example, you can have a 2 piece Monster Set, a mythic and 3 pieces of 2 different sets active at all times and then swap between 2 different bars to acivate each 5 piece bonus at different times allowing you to effecitively use 13 items worth of set bonuses.

Outside of this, there's Basalt-Blooded Warrior set for DK's, which literally provides you with a different effect based on which bar you're on (Main Bar grants Major Heroism while Back Bar grants 14% increased Healing and Damage Shield effectiveness)

For the most part, such things don't really matter. You can easily run with 2x 5pc sets and a 2pc Monster Set or Mythic without any difference between bars.

Sets that have bonuses/effects that last for a duration can be "taken off" while the duration lasts. So Clever Alchemist gives you damage for 20 seconds even when you don't have the set fully on after switching to another bar. Which brings me to this point that I know is probably not going to be popular (but I think I've said it before), these sets add to powercreep and facilitate busted builds. All sets should have to be worn full time to get their effects. That will balance the game a bit more.

I've seen 2 piece monster set, 5 piece set, and the first 3 parts of a 5 piece trial set (for minor slayer buff) used on non-meta builds that have a different arena weapon on both bars.
Stamplar with 2h front, bow back was of passable use like that before the the "merciless charge" maelstrom 2H was re-worked.

VERY niche to run two arena weapons tho.
Usually better to just add weapons from the otherwise incomplete set to the front bar (thats the one your spammable attack is on) and only use a arena weapon on the back bar.

Some similar breaking of a 5 piece set might be done if you want to run a monster set AND an antiquity piece such as "harpooner's wading kilt", but its usually easier to just break the monster set into 1 piece instead to get the 1 extra slot the antiquty needs.
