I have been leveling my Templar ( Argonian Healer ) recently but i have been thinking or re rolling onto a DK for tanking and dps, Just wondering if anyone has any preferences and what attributes i should try and head for as a DK and any kind of weapon preferences.

All info welcomed! and Thanks in advance!

i'd swap my templar for a dk in a flash if i could , vet content sucks for templars.. while i watch dk's facerolling groups of mobs i can barely survive

    This^^
However, by the time a new DK would reach VR they will probably be nerfed balanced too.

When I started I made 3 main chars in the 3 factions and leveled all of them more or less equally during the last month - and now guess which class I did NOT pick and only started very recently... *bites in keyboard*

people who say temps are bad in vet content have no clue about temps in general. both classes are valid options to play. they just do different stuff and therefore must be handled differently.

You can tank with a templar too. Just go Sword and Shield with some Heavy Armor, and put skill points into those skill lines.

Health is gonna be your primary attribute for any tank, but it's probably a good idea to get a little stamina and magicka for your abilities too. Though, if you're tanky enough, you won't need to burst enemies down so much because you'll have enough sustain to last longer in battle

I think i'll stick it out with my char atm, he is argonian i that still viable to tank with? ofc i know other peeps will have better racials but is it much of a difference in game? Will save me re rolling ;) haha.

With temps, is magika a better att than health due to using aoe to pull more aggro ooor?

    Many thanks btw all! :open_mouth:

This :) I play Templar and while the first few mobs face-rolled me in VR mode I used my time to look at my skills and play a little differently, thankfully I did not need to respec.

I think you have not been on the internet long enough until you have been rick-rolled.

One doesn't have to look far to find videos of Templars face rolling packs of mobs in Vet content. Not sure what the point of this is.

Both classess are good. Ive played a Dk and a Templar. I can tell you that Dragonknight is a very good for tanking and even better for dps and that seems to be what you want since you left out healing.

A dragonknight is very single target heavy and even with some of its area cone skills, the class relies on killing one target at a time very fast and in the end game- use of its ultimates for real aoe. The Dk has only one reasonable aoe weapon skill line and that is dual wield but unfortunately, its not up to par with 2h and 1h.

When it comes to healing, The dragonknight has a lot of fluff skills that can give you some here or there but you simply cant use all of the skills in a limited action bar, so almost all good Dragonknights choose Dragonblood or Searing strike to get life back. Both are a good healing while doing dps tactic. However, these DK heal skills are inferior to the templars healing tree by a landslide. Dragonblood can restore say 33% of 500 missing health for 165 health. A templar can heal for 3 times as much as that wish rushed ceremony and Healing ritual and even restoring aura can outheal given the time. As far as searing strike,Dks other healing ability, thats restricted to when the effect ends(8-10 seconds).

The templar will out dps a DK in pve simply because he has more punishing spells that can aoe target. Solar Flare and Sunfire alone can take out armies of kited monsters while using Blazing Shield to stave off the damage, and having a heal spell slotted is good too. Sunfire/aoe morphed and Puncturing strikes with Biting jabs seems to be popular as well for riping multiple monsters apart.

In pvp, The Dragon knight is a beast, especially in the ultimate department. A Dk picks a target and obliterates them in a very short amount of time. The Dk is the standard in dps and versatility in pvp as a Whirlwind barbarian is in diablo. His tactics are simple and powerful and most DK skill choices will be effective whether you chose them properly or not.

The templar in pvp, is a crucial healer, extremely hard to kill. Templar healers are team based and people will love you for protecting them. In 1v1, they are unkillable with the right magicka investment. Offensively, they must be played intelligently with a cool and calm thought flow. Spells like backlash and Eclipse can ruin a players day before they even realize they have taken dmg but it requires suave. Sunfire+Silver Bolts+ Javelin are devastating dps attacks that chain together very fast, i can pull all 3 attacks off in less than 2 seconds. Hope this helps,GL

Tanking + DPS does not work in veteran levels.

Either kill them fast enough that you do not die (DPS).

Stay alive and kill them slowly while absorbing damage (Tank).

Either way, death is unavoidable in veteran levels.

Levels 1-49 is a lot of fun, you can be a bit of everything. Once VR1 kicks in and you see enemies with 11k+ health that deal 295x2 damage per hit and crits that hit 1,800 you get to respect your character several times.

In fact, you respect so many times you are out of cash and consider creating a new character designed for veteran levels the moment to get into Tamriel.

Not unless you run tandem at all times.
Which in my experience really isn't doable with phasing and such.

Like a tandem skydive. They are attached to you so you don't end up on different quest phases and this unable to group.

As in they don't play that toon unless they are grouped with you. Otherwise you won't be able to group with them.
