Here once again to request the FoV range be increased. I have a larger monitor than I used to and now the game makes me sick. I'd love to return, but I just can't tolerate how narrow it is.

Other MMOs have a higher range. It's not a "competitive advantage" like some people claim, unless you count not throwing up as a competitive advantage. That's to say nothing of the fact that so many esports titles have higher FoV support and you'd be giving the tools to everyone, not a select few people. There really is no reasonable argument against it. You'd be making the game more comfortable to play for a lot of people. Those with smaller monitors or without sensitivity to such things wouldn't be affected.

One other interesting note is that the game technically already lets you increase the FoV further. It scales properly with wider aspect ratios, so you could actually put the game in windowed mode and simulate a wider aspect ratio to show it. It's not what I'd call a good experience, but it proves some points. See the link below for what this looks like.

If you've looked into this before, you may have seen people posting "ESO doesn't use fish-eye FoV." This is absolute nonsense. There is no such thing. Fish-eye is a natural consequence of rendering a 3D world onto a 2D plane. An increase in FoV will always eventually find its way to fish-eye. It depends on the monitor, its curvature, and the FoV itself. ESO simply doesn't let you push the FoV high enough to cause it in most cases.

There used to be third-party tools to fix this client-side, but they are no longer available or supported. They may even be against ToS, but there appeared to be debate on that front. I don't know enough to make my own injector to correct it, though I do have game modding experience now. ESO's anti-cheat measures won't let you edit memory without force closing the game, so that's not an option either.

I'd really love official support here.

What is your current FoV set at? Do you have it set to 130?
I experience absolutely no "fish eye", from a photographer's point of view and experience, you get fish eye from a shorter focal length lens trying to take in a wider field of view, and that's actually done with the shape of the lenses incorporated into the fish eye lens. I actually have a fish eye lens for SLR.
If the video rendering is done correctly, it shouldn't induce fish eye from going 3D to 2D. I have also watched people with big, wide screens stream and with a maxed field of view and see absolutely no fish eye rendering.
Is this something with how you have your settings in game and with your video card?

@jrgray93, I can't get your link to open on my iPad. Is anyone else having problems with it?

@sshogrin, how does one set ones FoV in the game?

It's in Setting/Camera, there's one grouping for first person, and one for 3rd person viewing.

As far as his link, it works on PC.

I think part of the issue with the perspective is the perspective. When you are rolled out more on camera depth with a wider field of view, things in the foreground appear larger than in the background, which is how it is in real life. In all reality you don't need to be set to 130 FoV and be rolled all the way out with the camera view like that when you have a wide screen monitor like that.

I've found moving the vertical offset to max upwards makes FOV appear bigger, could try that.

I'm also one of these people that prefer higher FoV. When the FoV is too low, it makes me feel like I'm sticking my head forward awkwardly the whole time and I hate it.

I hate that consoles are responsible for the trend in low FoVs in games because you want it set lower when playing from a couch on a TV, it's become the default, and it completely ignores people who sit right in front of their screen, which most PC players are doing.

I've noticed that whenever I am placing furnishings in my house, the game ALWAYS forces the FoV to an unatturally low level for me and it really pisses me off, there is nothing I can do to stop this, as soon as I open the camera settings, that very action causes the game to notice it's incorrect and it corrects itself, only to be reverted again the moment you try placing a new furnishing.

It now happens when you use the spectate option in the new Battle Grounds, for what ever reason, they chose to make spectate force the lower FoV and then you have to go into camera settings to fix it every time.

The fact that this bug has been in the game ever since housing was introduced, they clearly don't care about anyone's FoV concerns.

[Edit] I apologize for the aggressive tone in my post, this is just one of those things that really grinds my gears about this game, and it's been this way for years without any mention of it even existing as a problem.
