How does leaving zone in combat interacts with trifectas judgment now?

Groups in Trials no longer lose vitality when a player leaves the zone while the group is in combat.

@ZOS_Kevin I noticed in the new patch note that leaving zone in combat (aka PTE) no longer causes vitality lose. I'm curious as to how this affects the judgment of trifectas. ZOS previously made several changes to solve the problem of free trifectas via PTE, but with this update it looks like everything is back to the very beginning. That's strange.

Was that really a common problem?

My trifecta trials have never suggested PTE as a response to any mechanic, and the amount of time it takes to even do PTE in the first place means you probably can't do it reliably and definitely not on console. If someone can't get a trifecta without PTE-ing, then the group isn't as good as they think.

Meanwhile, vit loss on leaving instance has ruined trifectas when someone has disconnected or crashed in combat, even if the healers can keep them alive until they go offline. And there's no way to "pull the plug" on the internet to avoid a mechanic since you're still counted as 'logged in' for a bit after you d/c.

PTE being disabled in combat also affected being able to reset, especially since pets and companions had a tendency to get the group stuck in combat permanently.

What many have suggested was that a PTE command be counted as a vit loss, but a d/c not be counted as a vit loss to solve both problems. But if we can only have one or the other, the way that doesn't lose your trifecta because of server instability is better.

I agree. But my concern is whether or not ZOS will further change to forbid players from leaving in the combat as they did before. Players have been passive in accepting ZOS changes over and over again on this issue, and I would like a clarification from the ZOS this time

I mean there's video of a group getting US by having someone PTE fluctuating, and rumors about other groups.

Why not just remove pte in combat? For resets you can either die or disband and reform.

    Because

There have been so many times that people had to ALT+F4 to be able to get out of combat in order to do that because they got stuck in combat. And if you're on resets, having to force quit the game and reopen it in order to just reset takes ages.

The server really just needs to be able to tell the difference between an instant port out (i.e. PTE) and a logout (i.e. a disconnect). If PTE counted as a vit loss, that's fine. But if a d/c is a vit loss, then we need to have a 99.99% guarantee that the servers will never disconnect people.

For fastest resets on PC we just disband and reform rather than port out. I've never been stuck that way.
