Do I lose my companions if my sub expires?

If I have the companion DLCs only through plus, will the companions be usable when my sub expires? I'm just wondering if companions work like the jewelry crafting station and the Summerset DLC where you can't use that crafting station without Summerset access.

✭✭✭Tanlorin and Zerith-var will remain permanently unlocked in your Collections menu after your ESO+ expires, so you can keep using them even on characters that haven't done their recruitment quests.
Any Companion that was added with Blackwood, High Isle and Necrom will remain usable on the characters that completed their recruitment quests, but any subsequent Companion quest may not be possible to complete, if those quests take place in Blackwood, High Isle, Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha.Edited by Maitsukas on December 17, 2024 9:42AMPC-EU @maitsukas

✭I would assume they work like the blade of woe. It's acquiring it, not possessing it, that requires behind the dlc. I would guess that the companions would remain unlocked on any toons that have done their intro quest, but any that have not done the quest would not be able to do the quest to recruit them.1 -

OP asking about DLC companions from previous chapters Blackwood, High Isle and Necrom.
They stay unlocked after subscription ends. (Can't be unlocked via ESO+ Trial)
