Only to you and the dozen or so other tech nerds.

This is like saying the Bohr model of the atom appears dishonest.

Hell, even if someone did try to explain every nitty gritty detail to the community relations team, I wouldn't fault them for not understanding it well enough to relay it to us in full. Because they're not tech people, either.

The only explanation 98% of us care about is "Power outage oopsy-woopsy; lots of work to fix; eta X hours; will update you if that eta changes." Which is exactly what we got.

As for your whole database rant... who cares? They made a change you don't like, they gave a simplified explanation for the change, and you're over here being some kind of weird conspiracy theorist and demanding access to everyone's GIT pulls.

It's especially awkward since every serious trader pulls items that have been sitting for two weeks anyway, assuming they don't pull them at one week. Only the people trying to manipulate TTC leave stuff sitting at outrageous prices for a month. If your Crafting Motif: Dremora Boots listed at 50,000 hasn't sold in two weeks, it's not going to sell in four weeks either.

The only people this hurts are price-fixers and people who use their guild store + their mailbox as ersatz item storage.

You have me confused with someone else. I don't know what GIT pulls are?

I'm on console. This doesn't apply to me.

    Wait, what?

You don't even know what you're talking about, but you think you know when some tech explanation "appears dishonest"?

Ok, well, that narrows this down to "I'm trying to get around the inventory limits by using my guild store and my mailbox as extra item storage." If your maxed-out bank space and six storage chests are all full, just get rid of stuff. If Undaunted Infiltrator ever becomes meta, you can go get it again.

I'm a technical person who's done his fair share of disaster recovery planning and other governance exercises. I think their language here has been fine. Even if there are some nuances behind the scenes, I don't feel like I need to know that. They're working around the clock to get these servers back up. I trust that they're doing that.

ZOS communication language is fine. I don't care to know the exact technical details. Just tell me when the problem will be fixed. That's all I need to know or care about as a customer.

ZoS’ communication has been fine on this. As someone mentioned, a ‘power outage, eta X hours’ is what 99% of the player base wants and will understand. Anything else doesn’t really matter.

Unless it was space aliens. That I would want to know about. 😁
