New BGs - Death Kicks You For Inactivity

So, I’m not great at PvP. But I am trying to get 5 BGs done for this Golden Pursuits thing. I get loaded into a Deathmatch and I’m the first to 3 deaths on my side. I spectate. Then after a while, the game warns me I will be kicked for inactivity.

Well, I mean, I died. Not purposefully. I tried. But I’m not great at PvP and with objective matches I can usually do okay, but I’m not a Deathmatch type. So, I stop spectating and move my camera around my dead corpse. It’s literally ALL the movement I can do because, you know, I’M DEAD.

Despite everyone on my team now being dead, the timer still insisted on counting down instead of just moving us to Round 2.

Then the game removed me for inactivity, slapped me with a deserter penalty timer, and didn’t count that as a completed match.

These new BGs are swell.

supposedly that should have been fixed in yesterdays patch, but seems like it still hasnt lol

i personally usually prefer the 8v8 mode, as there is not a limited number of lives there

I really hope the only reason this wasn't hotfixed immediately is due to Thanksgiving. It's so gamebreaking and so many people are abusing it to punish teammates who die by forcing them to take long, long deserter penalties, while dragging the match out for everyone on both teams.

makes sense lol, should have read better i was assuming it was PC lol

in either case hopefully it does fix it for you after tomorrow lol

The sad part is this is the first time I have tried BGs since the last major bug (supposedly fixed now) where the match start timer never started, thus it locked me entirely out of ESO on all my toons and customer service couldn’t help beyond “next patch maintenance should unlock your account”.

After that, I kinda hadn’t touched BGs again. But I figured with patch maintenance tomorrow, I would try to bang 5 out real quick so if I did get locked again, it would only be overnight.

Is there someone who can confirm this was fixed on PS with the patch today? I was thinking of doing one BG for the Golden Pursuits (though I am unhappy with the limited lives thing now) but don’t want to waste my time if not fixed.

there is no limited lives if your doing 8v8, the queue by default goes to the 4v4 competitive mode though

and its mentioned in the PS patch notes it should have fixed the being kicked in spectator mode https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/669648/playstation-patch-notes-v2-67-v1-48-update-44-incremental-patch-1

so theoretically it should be fine, or could just do 8v8 mode and not have to worry about it

theres a good bit of difference actually

4v4 has limited lives for deathmatch, and also does not have some of the objective modes (capture the relic or chaosball are not available)
8v8 has no limit for lives in deathmatch, and has access to all of the modes

for the chaosball they did change this one too, there are 3 chaosballs now, i think theres 2 variants of it, one has 3 normal chaosballs, and one has 1 normal chaosball and 2 balls that apply transformations (one transformation is the ww behemoth basically similar to the version you get in the archive, and the other transformation is a vampire lord that has 5 vampire skills on the bar with an ultimate that is similar to the DK leap)

personally i find the solo 8v8 queue to be the best in terms of fun, not every match is balanced though, sometimes will still get steamrolled or sometimes do the steamrolling

I’m not a fan of the objective BGs but I still have achievements earn there so I guess that’s alright. I prefer straight-up DM instead. Too bad about the limited lives in 4x4 because that would get more DMs but my build really isn’t top notch competitive.

the objective modes are a little more competitive with 2 teams, at least capture the relic is, in 8v8 its harder to find an unguarded relic, and harder to sneak around and just cap it

chaosball is actually more chaos than it used to be, but i found it quite entertaining with the transformation balls lol
